2015 POUG rate tracker
Please add your own successful results to the follow list including the month/year when the POUG was offered to you.
POUGs are offered via BA.com and the App Manage My Booking via a distinctive banner. You cannot get a POUG by telephoning, however the service centres can complete a POUG which falls over mid transaction. They are offered on cash and Avios redemptions but typically not on complex routings, BA Holidays or travel agency bookings until OLCI stage. POUGs on Avios redemptions won't get you additional TPs/Avios, but they will on revenue tickets.
Short haul routes from LON to/from Europe
A price in pounds indicates a ticket issued from London, other currencies indicate prices for tickets issued overseas (e.g. singles or returns originating from CDG priced in Euros). Multiple prices indicate a range of fares are on offer. Note that LCY prices currently seem to be on a different basis to LGW and LHR (cheaper, in other words).
Long haul routes from LON to North America
(price shown from lower cabin to mentioned cabin, e.g. WTP means price to POUG from WT to WTP):

Am being offered 159 € Malaga to Gatwick. With the old 737s I'd consider paying €50 for an upgrade, but with the new CE cabin I'd pay about €25 so I can't see me ever going for POUG. I've Silver now so get lounge access. If I wasn't Silver I'd add €10 to those prices above

MUC offer of 110 GBP. That is almost exactly what the fare difference was at booking. I passed.
On the return, I took advantage of a fare difference of less than 70 GBP to confirm CE.

Hi
I booked LAX-LHR-YVR in CW+ yesterday travelling late September back October 12. Less than 12 hours later I noticed an upgrade offer in my booking. It appears to be offering it for both legs. I'm afraid to go in and look at the price thinking that if I back out it won't be there at another time. Am I being paranoid?
From reading through this post I gather that the offer can come and go over time and the price can go up and down. Does it tend to be lowest at check-in? We're travelling outbound on my birthday so it would be a nice treat......depending on the price.
I got upgraded on CX from PE to Biz recently but who knows if that luck will repeat itself on BA!
I'm AA platinum (OW Sapphire). Really excited to be trying the A380!

Some recent data-points.
LHR-VIE & VIE-LHR, POUGs at £130 each-way at t-24hrs. I declined.
next trip LHR & VIE-LHR no offer. 4 rows CE o/b, 3 rows I/b.
LHR-CPH & CPH-LHR. £110 each-way. I declined.
I'm currently projecting being 100-200tps under a 'bauble' threshold at my year-end, so the extra tps on offer do have some kind of value ... but not at those prices.

This sounds to me to be a simple paid upgrade, rather than the POUG. POUG are offered via the scrolling banner/BA information above your details on MMB. This should clearly state the cost of the upgrade being offered 'on a limited time basis'. Given that this was advertised after only 12 hours, PUG are only available after 48 hours. I assume that this is to stop people booking cheap tickets then cancelling within 24 hours if a POUG has not been offered, as a means of trying to get CE/WTP etc cheaper than the price being offered at time of booking.

Places like Geneva and Dublin could be more cost effective.
Your better bet is to look at POUGs from LCY, which still seem to be around £69 from LCY, and a Euro depreciated €79 (£56) back to LCY if bought as singles.
I've been booking some PMI tickets recently, which is served by both LHR and LCY. The PMI to LCY POUG is coming up at €79, PMI to LHR POUG is at €175! That said, PMI to LHR in ET HBO was a smashing price, €54 (£38).

@ cws. Indeed , but 'tis where work send me.
I tend to pick up some personal CE fares to DUB.
The bit I haven't adjusted to, and very grateful for the post, is the AMS-LCY angle. For various reasons my AMS-LGW could be replaced by AMS-LCY. The (small) chance of the occasional POUG in the 'value' window would add to benefits such as quicker bag-claim at LCY over LGW and (mostly) quicker passport control on a Thu or Fri night.
I've no doubt £125rtn to VIE exists, but in the real-world of booking Sunday LHR departures (after 8am!) I rarely beat £195rtn even 4 months out and in a "sale".

Flying LHR-SFO and then BOS-LHR end August in WT. Looked into how much it would cost to upgrade the outbound to WTP (it's an 11 hour flight) and got the following message:
We are very sorry that we cannot process this request on ba.com because the journey includes a surface sector. Please call your local British Airways office to change this booking
Does this mean that POUGs won't be shown or available for this booking? Or are they done on a flight by flight basis, which means it might be available closer to the time?
Hoping someone knows! Not particularly looking forward to 11 hours in WT...
