2015 POUG rate tracker
Please add your own successful results to the follow list including the month/year when the POUG was offered to you.
POUGs are offered via BA.com and the App Manage My Booking via a distinctive banner. You cannot get a POUG by telephoning, however the service centres can complete a POUG which falls over mid transaction. They are offered on cash and Avios redemptions but typically not on complex routings, BA Holidays or travel agency bookings until OLCI stage. POUGs on Avios redemptions won't get you additional TPs/Avios, but they will on revenue tickets.

LHR-ATH £160 from WT to CE for mid-June.

Way too steep for a 3 hour flight on 767 where you can already get 2 seats by themselves in WT.

The first question is what happens if I upgrade the flight on a POUG after the 28th? Does the booking remain on the old rules with respect to Avios?

The second question relates to tier points: when you do a POUG, the selling class changes to U, which is technically a redemption class. Up until now, upgrading via POUG to, say, CE from ET would give the full 40 points from the standard 10 points. Will this remain the case? Like many other people, I often do POUGs purely to retain status.
It seems likely that POUGing after April 28 will still remain on the old rules for Avios, as it's the booking date that counts.

There has been no change to the TPs POUGs earn according to BA.

I'm sorry if this has been answered before, but I just paid £120 for a LHR PRG POUG.

Checking my booking now, it says I'm booked into class U. Isn't that redemption Business? I know I am supposed to get J TPs and avios, but just curious to know why I'm booked on U class.

The policy was changed some months ago

Crediting to BA you will get J tier points and Avios. Crediting elsewhere is likely to be a pain.

I suppose the more interesting question is how many you'll get post-28th April. I would guess you accrue at the I- class level.

I remember reading on here last year that POUGs are no longer offered until 48 hours after booking, so people can't book with a view to getting a free cancellation within 24 hours if they're not offered one.

Well, I've just been offered a POUG instantly after booking, so perhaps that policy has changed. However I had paid the refundable £10 deposit on ba.com to hold the fare for 72 hours, so perhaps that had some bearing on it. They might figure those POUG-seekers won't be willing to lose a tenner each time they try.

Bit like playing the lottery then. Gamble a tenner on getting a POUG. Probably better odds of winning than on the lottery

LHR-TLV WT to WT+ for GBP 153. Needed some TPs to re-qualify for Gold so gladly accepted it (it's extra 55 TPs).
