I agree that if there are no queue lines set up then it's awkward (PRG usually has them, including a filter for Group 1). But the BA's own guidance to agents says that if there is only a single line Group 1 passengers should be encouraged to go to the front of the queue. There isn't a requirement for Group 1 to be there at the start of boarding.

i reckon i get a greeting about 30pct of the time. It does feel very random for instance it doesnt seem related to class flown (im usually in J but did LHR-SIN in F last week and didnt get anything either leg) or whether its inbound or outbound from LHR. Cant say it bothers me one way or another,I guess its just one of these things that the more you fly the more you notice these little operational things perhaps out of boredom!
I guess one comparison i would draw is that when i was UNIQ on VS i got greetings from both the CSD and the Captain 100pct of the time - it was remarkably consistent

Errr. No. Not at all. Personally I really couldn't care. Same for being escorted to my seat when in F. It just doesn't really do it for me.

But ... it IS company policy, and means a lot to many others, and as such, it should always be observed. There is a reason why it is company policy. The management feel that it is important to show regular customers that their custom is appreciated. That is important as it affects many other aspects of the service.

I'm 1 for 9 flights since renewal, and that 1 was debatable (it was a "welcome back Mr Y" while in F). And now you mention it, I do recall how the BA Captains used to always come and say hello to F pax years back. They even liked to shake hands, which occasionally became awkward with a glass of fizz in one hand and a canape in the other. I've not seen them do this for quite some time now.

It is not a policy and there is no requirement for CC to greet GCHs. That’s the first thing one learns from this thread. When passengers make up a policy and then get upset that cabin crew do not follow it (and even threaten cabin crew with a complaint), it is really the passengers’ problem (and I feel bad for cabin crew who have to deal with them).

Having walked for what seemed like an eternity to Gate 34 at Gatters (satellite terminal - two travelators out of action), to add insult to injury we had to walk out to the plane via a green walkway. The 319 was sitting 'nose in' between other birds (as they position some aircraft in the morning there). By the time we all boarded we were exhausted and the CSM welcomed me back: "Gatwick not too busy for you this morning?" I laughed.

Flew DUB-LHR last week, no greeting and rude service when I wanted to buy food of the cart. When I pulled out the gold card to pay with Avios the tune changed, and they came back to my seat 2 more times to ask if there was anything I needed. Then I got on BA0179 to JFK, a whole new mess. No greeting, and the staff was dismissive. I was seated in WT+ (old), and asked to charge my phone in Club (only 11 seats sold) I got a firm no on that. I offered to pay for an upgrade, but this is not possible onboard..FFS!

Just found an upper case "A" rattling about at the bottom of this thread. Anyone got any ideas where it might have come from?

But VS UNIQ isn’t the same as BA Gold. Gold can be achieved by anyone who flies enough whereas UNIQ is invite only. If you wanted to draw comparisons then the closest to VS UNIQ would be BA Prem and these customers will always get a greeting from the CSM/CSD/Purser

From the on board announcements, and the safety video.

“During the flight, all electronic devices must be disconnected from the seat power, when not in use”.

I’m unclear whether you were asking to leave your phone charging in Club, or asking to sit with your phone in Club. Either way, if it’s not in use, it needs to be disconnected. Charging doesn’t count as “in use”.

To clarify, I was asking to upgrade to Club by paying for it.

Knowing of course, as a frequent flier, that cabin crew have no means of accepting payment onboard or reticketing.

Refusal was therefore perfectly reasonable, and not something to whine about here. One can only speculate about your motives for asking something you presumably knew would be refused, but power banks are cheap and readily available, so maybe worth getting one?

Otherwise there are plenty of feasible opportunities to pay for the class you want to be travelling in, either by booking it in the first place, UUA, POUG or AUG.

I had an exemplary welcome on my flight out to Turin yesterday, including by the captain who came out to say hello. Not a very busy flight, just 4 in J, and I suspect that was helpful, though I got the impression the CSM does this as a matter of course. I honestly don’t care for it, but appreciate the gesture when it’s made.

Must be that they realised how hard it is to walk around the cabin with both hands engaged, expecting to shake hands. The captain's fizz low-octane, I presume.
