I'm 1 for 9 flights since renewal, and that 1 was debatable (it was a "welcome back Mr Y" while in F). And now you mention it, I do recall how the BA Captains used to always come and say hello to F pax years back. They even liked to shake hands, which occasionally became awkward with a glass of fizz in one hand and a canape in the other. I've not seen them do this for quite some time now.
Must be that they realised how hard it is to walk around the cabin with both hands engaged, expecting to shake hands. The captain's fizz low-octane, I presume.
