Tesco and Avios
Tesco, the major UK supermarket chain, allows you to convert Tesco Clubcard (CC) points to Avios. The standard earning rate is 1 CC point per £1 spent in store. They convert to Avios in the ratio of 1 CC point to 2.4 Avios or 2.5 Virgin miles. Every quarter, your points are converted to coupons and mailed to you - they can then be converted via the CC website to Avios or Virgin miles. Typically, it takes 1-2 working days for a conversion to BA Avios to complete.

The key to rapidly earning large amounts of Avios is the regular bonus point offers where large amounts of points can be earned. The latest are listed below and discussed within this thread.

The last period for collecting Clubcard points finished on 16 October 2014.

The last day for collecting points in the current quarter is 21 January 2015
.

Topcashback (TCB)
A cashback generating site, that provides cashback if you go to a wide range of online retailers via their links. Uniquely amongst such sites, TCB allows up to £50 of cashback per year to be withdrawn to your Tesco Clubcard account, which could then be transferred to 12,000 Avios. As of the middle of May, most cashback can also be transferred directly to your Avios account 1p=1 Avios. http://www.topcashback.co.uk/

Those magazines are certainly popular at the stores near me. There were literally hundreds stacked by the door the other day around 10 am but by 6 pm just a handful remained. I doubt it's linked to the vouchers but I've learned to grab them at every opportunity.

I can't believe how many of us FTers seem to use the Tesco Extra at Surrey Quays! Perhaps we should arrange a Do at Mange Tout in the food court?!?!?

A few of us have previously met up at The Moby Dick, but that was quite a while ago. Given that I can't make the Pre-Christmas London Drinks : Friday 19 December 2014 despite organising the venue, if anyone wanted to meet for a 3V-pikey-Tesco splinter group drink on Saturday 13 December I'm happy to do that!

It's the nearest Tesco with a half-reliable supply of 3Vs to my halls in Victoria, my other local when I'm at home is in Hastings. Definitely up for a plunder/meet but I think I've had enough 3Vs for this year.

Sorry it is has been mentioned already but has anyone had a flutter with the Amex gift card that have surfaced (recently?) in store. Besides a similar £3.95 activation to Visa gift cards not sure of the pros / cons.

Yup, I've bought one. For whatever reason the tills don't recognise it as a gift card, so you cannot use the 100 points voucher or get 150 bonus points perm£50.

Sadly I only frequent Surrey Quays on weekdays- when working over there- so weekends are a no go.

Really then you would only want to buy them direct, to save any fee.
HTP recentlly had an article re buying Amex gift vouchers. Even then I couldnt see any real advantage.

I think the only point of buying them is if you need to hit a spending target on your Amex card - the no fees makes this worthwhile.

Half palette of magazines at Tesco Feltham an hour ago and 2-3 palettes at Twickenham Extra mid-last week.

Both of them out of 3V cards for appr. 2 weeks now.

New coupons arrived in my account. Most notably: Triple points - thank you for being an American Express customer.

Anyone have any ideas how to get the best out of this one?

My initial thought was put 4x 3V cards through and hope for at least 3x the base points (300 points)?

Base points on gift cards is 0. You only earn bonus points per 50 GBP of gift card spend, so 3x0 is 0.
