Tesco and Avios
Tesco, the major UK supermarket chain, allows you to convert Tesco Clubcard (CC) points to Avios. The standard earning rate is 1 CC point per £1 spent in store. They convert to Avios in the ratio of 1 CC point to 2.4 Avios or 2.5 Virgin miles. Every quarter, your points are converted to coupons and mailed to you - they can then be converted via the CC website to Avios or Virgin miles. Typically, it takes 1-2 working days for a conversion to BA Avios to complete.

The key to rapidly earning large amounts of Avios is the regular bonus point offers where large amounts of points can be earned. The latest are listed below and discussed within this thread.

The last period for collecting Clubcard points finished on 16 October 2014.

The last day for collecting points in the current quarter is 21 January 2015
.

Topcashback (TCB)
A cashback generating site, that provides cashback if you go to a wide range of online retailers via their links. Uniquely amongst such sites, TCB allows up to £50 of cashback per year to be withdrawn to your Tesco Clubcard account, which could then be transferred to 12,000 Avios. As of the middle of May, most cashback can also be transferred directly to your Avios account 1p=1 Avios. http://www.topcashback.co.uk/

So I walk past the Surrey Quays Tesco daily. Can someone explain to mean how 3VS work and what makes them so appealing? A quick synopsis would be most appreciated.

Ooh, do pop in tomorrow and have a look if there are any in there for me please!

Basically they're prepaid Visa cards - you used to be able to use them for financial transactions like NS&I so it was effectively a free way of getting CC points. Now you can't use them for those kinds of transactions but they're still useful for shopping online, particularly Amazon.

Well isn't that a bummer! Going to have a look tomorrow, could do with a few more before Christmas, especially with the extra points!

Managed to grab one of the hard to come by Tesco staff and they opened up the gift cards cabinet. Piles of every gift card you can imagine... but not a single 3V.

When are they likely to be delivered? "Beginning of each week, this morning in fact". For some reason that didn't include 3Vs, or someone beat me to it?!

I have 5 Tesco stores within 20 minutes drive from home and they all have a stack of them every time I'm in there. It wasn't the case last year of course but it was all worthwhile back then.

They don't appear to be restocking 3v's and even if you find some there are activation problems. Amex ones appear to be in 3Vs place.

Maybe you're referring to your own local store but that certainly isn't my recent experience. Plenty available earlier today at a medium sized store near me when I called in for another purpose. I activated 6 just yesterday without any problem at all.

I think in London at least availability is an issue, in the regiosn not so much. I've never had an activation problem though.

I've had 2 or 3 in the last month, but when they rescan them they all work properly.
I always bring a few spare though in case they don't activate second time round.
