My condolences Geordie405, mrs rapidex is saying a prayer for your late mother, so she gets to reside in our spirit house. Not sure how that works, but it can't do any harm. Talking of spirits, I have a 1 liter bottle of Courvoisier XO, which was on special at KUL, 20% off.

Uncle T will like this, BKK has a new immigration lane to avoid the long queues at immigration. For the over 70's and pregnant women you get to side step the tensa barrier maze and a short walk to a special desk. I got pulled aside by a young lady who thought I looked old, but I'm not 70 until next year. She informed me its under trial and I was escorted through, and reminded to use it next year. 40 minutes reduced to 2.![Thumbs up](https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

Very sorry to read about your mum Geordie405. ![Frown](https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Heck of a lot of storms here this morning I've been hearing nothing but emergency vehicle sirens for the last half an hour. The storms are heading to Buenos Aires next.

Sorry to hear the news, Geordie405 . Glad to hear you made it back in time to say your goodbyes and in true flyertalker spirit that you've still got some enthusiasm for the lounge.
Not much to report on my side. Epically busy with peak season of work, so it's non-stop at the moment. On top of that, I am a volunteer board member of a British community group so I am flat out busy getting everything ready for our Xmas party next week. Working hard with the caterers to have mince pies, mini yorkies with turkey and stuffing, pigs in blankets, and other British Christmas classics, while helping source decorations and a Santa. We've sold close to 120 tickets, so hoping it will be a massive success. I've also been calling everyone I know here to get raffle prizes to raise money to rebuild schools in Acapulco, so I pretty much live on the phone at the moment. Really can't wait for my trip in Jan now!

After a cold week here in Orlando while I worked, the sun has come out just in time for Mrs firstlight to top up her tan with a pleasant 30C high today. Her flight was a bargain at 330 plus 95k avios and a guf1 for CW both ways.
Happy Friday everyone!

My condolences Geordie405. My mother passed away a couple of years ago, so i know how you feel. Tough and difficult now, but rest assured that over time the grief slowly ebbs away but the happy memories remain.

Back up in Londinium for the weekend, just had a very long day helping set up for our old Church's Christmas Fair, which is tomorrow. Amazing how a nice glass of wine, a roaring fire and the company of old friends helps to ease the stress of a busy old day.

It is that time of the week again! Happy Friday!
What a week.... External events plus having to prepare for unexpected client workshops next week. So I am off to CPH on Sunday night on QR via DOH, and straight to work on landing..
Also, throwing in a side trip to MAN while in Europe - will be a busy week ahead!
I think I need to kick back with a pint soon as we are slowly nearing 5pm![Smilie](https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Sitting in a hospital bed after planned surgery yesterday means no more flying for me this year, approx 96k miles and 46 segments, 43 of which on BA.
Should get out of here tomorrow then downtime until January when my quest for 1800 further tps begins.
Happy Friday and have a nice weekend everyone!

Happy Friday all.
Client Christmas party in London this evening - worryingly starting at 15:00.
Happily not only did I get a good price in a Hilton for the night (booked it weeks ago), but they've upgraded me twice in the last few days and tonight's stay will requalify me for my HH Diamond for next year.

Earned a whole 180 avios for my night at the Novotel BKK, plus my usual Accor points. Of course BA wont let me me combine my avios and move them from Qatar to the BAEC whilst I'm in Thailand. Still thats what you get with creaky old IT not fit for purpose. Have a 5kg turkey ready for Christmas, plus a 1 litre bottle of Courvoisier XO so that should do some damage to my liver. Finally getting rid of my cold, so should be a good week.

Sending thoughts and prayers to Geordie405.
As for Friday, the day started at 0400 with heavy rain dripping through the roof, through the ceiling and down the study wall (roof last replaced in 1917, nail fatigue and Billy the roofer won't fix it until Paddy the spark does X, and Jamie the chip does Y and so forth). Next, the usual utterly miserable taxi at 0510. BA1413 then sat on the tarmac at BHD for around 40 minutes waiting for ATC, with no catering in CE, no vouchers and general muttering all round. Thankfully the next couple of sectors are on QR. I'm Q-suited out (a first world problem, if ever there was one) so have chosen the three class A380 with bar instead (for day time flights, a brighter open J cabin than a Q-suite). And in around 16 hours I'll be asleep by a fire of cedar from the salt marches of the northern gulf, with young boys and their falcons standing guard and the timeless call to prayer and tranquil starry night of the desert reminding me of eternity.
