Re the QF SIN lounge, I don't think they offer the "cook to order food" for the full opening hours. On my last two visits over the last few months, basically there was no food on the buffet and no food cooked to order but there were seats, quiet and beer. So it was better than the BA lounge.
Sure, there can be different experiences. But as the poster said they preferred the food, no comments about availability, I assumed that there were options available in both.

The food I had in both was chalk and cheese (literally) so really REALLY can't understand how BA could have been better in any way.

FYI, there were a number of people that commented like me, so I am not the only one who believes this...

QF is like Zoo Time with Desmond Morris at peak hour.
Passable food and plentiful power outlets notwithstanding, I make haste for the EK lounge as soon as it opens. One of the few benefits of that unholy alliance.

I was in there between 8pm and 10.30pm. During that time, the full buffet (looked good) and the off menu dining was available. I would say it was about half full when i got in there and slowly emptying out throughout my stay.
i thought the lounge was more than acceptable in every way.

In the BA lounge now having walked over from the QF one. While the Qantas lounge is larger and has more food options neither of them looked particularly appetizing. The again the food option in the BA lounge are even worse.

At least the BA lounge has much better wine and is nice and quite this time of day.

I used the QF lounge last week, which was perfectly adequate. Last time I used the BA lounge (Feb), however, I asked if there was anything else to eat. They asked what I was thinking and I said "a burger or something". 15 minutes later, a perfectly palatable burger was bought to my seat.

While this might be woefully off-topic Wozza2404 I quite enjoyed your AY trip report.

Of course you are not the only person with your experiences. No one said otherwise and I'm sorry that my point has been misunderstood. I am at a loss to understand why you feel that this has to be an issue of "wrong" or "right" and why someone simply posting there own experiences can be be "wrong" and their posting of their experience a "joke". It is irrelevant how many people have had the same experience as you. Others haven't and sharing experiences is the whole point and benefit of FT.

I hope you understand this point and agree with me that FT would be a more congenial place if posters didn't rubbish other people's posts for simply posting their experiences when they are simply different.

Your point is well made but I think you will find that the bulk of conflict derives from either the "attack BA at all costs" set and the "attack any poster who is critical of BA" set. Then there are just the virulent passive aggressive small minority who hide in full view of everyone as they admonish others.

I think objectively on a like for like basis that the majority of people would reasonably view the QF lounge as far ahead of BA's in SIN. On occasion, if as you found the lounge was closing up and food was scarce etc, BA may be better at that time. At 4pm for example, I am sure (pretty sure) you would agree that the QF offering is way ahead of BA's offering. Unless of course, the information on the lounge monitor is very important to you.

I totally agree with your summary. The SIN lounge is likely to be much better than the BA one for 90% of the time and as good or worst for some other times.

The value of people posting the minority view is that others will be pre-warned that there are potential grey periods and times when things aren't as good. An optimist might forlornly hope that at some point BA might see that it is difficult to justify the F fare with this "let down" lounge. My last visit I'd say there were only six or so pax in the QF lounge and clearly everything was done and gone - just a cold "hot" buffet where all proteins had been spooned out - debris all over the place - and no further effort made, and on that occaision it would be an abuse of English to say that the BA lounge was better, but more accurate to say it wasn't as bad as the QF one at that particular moment.

I think a year or so back some of us regular users of the BA lounge had our hopes temporarilly raised that things were being changed and that the lounge would be better. I probably misunderstood.

I think the double whammy is pax going "straight through" and compare the QF SYD lounge with the BA SIN lounge which feels pretty much like comparing to some people's experience the very best that they will experience to the very worst - in one trip.

Great that they registered as 'very happy' with the feedback. Instinct tells me they didn't give a gnats a*se but smiled and thanked you anyway.

Was that before if was a J lounge? I find it hard to believe they will offer this specialise service now as a J lounge?

I used the BA lounge when flying down to Australia earlier this month. Had a quick shower, a small plate of quite hot curry and a refreshing glass of Joseph Perrier and it was time to get back on the plane. It was not too busy.

On the way back, I had more time and could not find a pair of seats in the BA lounge, so went to the QF lounge. Almost empty. Staff very friendly and proactive. Found it a bit stark than the smaller BA lounge, but at least it was quiet and empty. No food, but a drink from the bar was fine.

This was when the QF lounge was closed for refurb. It was very quiet, if that makes any difference. Definitely SIN and definitely the BA lounge.

Thanks to eae for the TR praise!
