An “official POUG” is defined (for the purposes of this wiki) as the rate that appears in red on the MMB/BA app. It is NOT the rate offered at the airport (please see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ng-thread.html), or the rate offered when you click on the “Upgrade my class of travel with money” link from within MMB, or the “Upgrade to the next available cabin” blue/grey banner in the app.
  • All POUGs earn full TPs and Avios for the upgraded cabin, subject to the original booking being paid for with cash.
  • POUGs *ARE* offered on Hand-Baggage Only fares, if available
  • POUGs only become available after 48 hours of making your booking, until any time up to, and including OLCI. After being checked in you will not be offered a POUG.
  • POUGs do not seem to become available for travel agent bookings, until 2-3 days before departure (YMMV)
  • POUGs cannot be requested from Service Centres, except that occasionally BA.com will not proceed with a POUG online and display a message inviting you to call the Service Centre to complete the transaction.
  • After a POUG has been purchased, the ticket become non changeable and non refundable, apart from government taxes.

Please add to this list as required, and include the month/year when the POUG is offered to you.

I agree.

Mrs P and Miss P (Mrs P Silver - Miss P Blue) were offered a POUG WT to WTP (LHR-JFK) for £124.00 and me being the nice person that I am, paid it for them about 10 days prior to departure.

They both got upgraded to CW at the gate earlier this week. Good value I thought even without the upgrade to CW.

Under manager my book using BA app, there is an option in grey for upgrade my flight. Is this the POUG offer? Upon clicking it, it says there is an error and currently unavailable?

Puzzled with the message. Flight is in June

Has availability of POUG reduced?

Last week I booked 5 or 6 short haul sectors at off peak times when there is good I class availability. Previously, I would have expected some of those to offer an immediate POUG. This time, none did however. Does anyone know if the policy on these has been tightened?

Do you mean the link in the section at the bottom of the page? In a list that says something like this:-
Change booking
Change date/time of my flight
Upgrade my class of travel with money
Upgrade my class of travel with Avios
Cancellation options for this booking
If there is a POUG offer, the "Upgrade my class of travel with money" link is a route into it.

But usually the POUG offer will be made much more visible to you at the top of the page or in a pod on the right hand side of the page, announcing a special offer to upgrade.

If you click the link in the list at the bottom of the page and get prices for upgrading, they are sometimes POUG prices and sometimes just fare rules upgrade prices. Many of the posts in this thread fail to distinguish between them. POUG prices are, IME, marked as special offer prices.

In the app, I got a direct link which says upgrade to the next available. It only appears this weekend but not last week.

When I logged into MMB, same thing happens. But upon clicking it, it says tickets not available for upgrade online. Please contact local agent.

I generally accept it for the YYZ-LHR night time route in hopes of a CW upgrade or a more comfortable night flight at the very least. But for the day flights when I already have an exit row I don't think it's worth it.

Not sure who edits Wiki, however:

Airport Upgrade (wishing for separate thread)
WT to WTP LHR-LAX today 144GBP (quoted as 175EUR).

Excellent deal to try WTP on a380. Took it.

Edit: I declined the 110EUR GOT-LON WT-CE

Got offered the standard £89 POUG offer for a LGW-LCA flight on BA APP yesterday, but when I selected it I got a message that they (BA) are temporarily experiencing problems upgrading this flight. Same happens today. I went on the MMB and the POUG offer shows up there as well but a similar experiencing problems error message shows up.

Anyone had this problem before?

Being offered a £69 per person upgrade on MMB page, but when clicking through being told the price is now £117. 2 people attached to the booking so guessing there is one offer left. On the return I am being offered the upfare (incl. change fee), so obviously the £117 is a second level of upgrade price point for the outbound. This is for an LCY-Menorca flight.

Usual £99 on LHR-ATH and ATH-LHR during check-in.

But I also got £179 for LHR-ATH-LHR on the same booking one day before departure, and £80 on the return leg two days before departure of this leg. Did not try to take it, so I don't know if it would work or increased to £99.
