An “official POUG” is defined (for the purposes of this wiki) as the rate that appears in red on the MMB/BA app. It is NOT the rate offered at the airport (please see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ng-thread.html), or the rate offered when you click on the “Upgrade my class of travel with money” link from within MMB, or the “Upgrade to the next available cabin” blue/grey banner in the app.
  • All POUGs earn full TPs and Avios for the upgraded cabin, subject to the original booking being paid for with cash.
  • POUGs *ARE* offered on Hand-Baggage Only fares, if available
  • POUGs only become available after 48 hours of making your booking, until any time up to, and including OLCI. After being checked in you will not be offered a POUG.
  • POUGs do not seem to become available for travel agent bookings, until 2-3 days before departure (YMMV)
  • POUGs cannot be requested from Service Centres, except that occasionally BA.com will not proceed with a POUG online and display a message inviting you to call the Service Centre to complete the transaction.
  • After a POUG has been purchased, the ticket become non changeable and non refundable, apart from government taxes.

Please add to this list as required, and include the month/year when the POUG is offered to you.

Sure did! On the way to the airport so let's see if we can't get a reasonable paid upgrade to CW at the airport! Although not so critical on a day flight, but would be a nice end to the holiday.

I'm specifically looking for an upgrade for the LHR-DEL flight (BA143 on 7th March). I've tried UuA but no luck. I'm in WTP.
No harm in asking!

I just booked a day trip LHR-GVA, part of the Hello Weekend promotion.

Online confirmation shows the offer of £79 to upgrade to CE, as in the wiki. The e-mail confirmation shows £89.

Oo er! Dynamic pricing, eh.

LHR-DUB (and vice versa) £56 for flights in late March.
Base fare was semi-flex, so this is a big percentage fare increase, but also 30 extra TP for £56.
I've only upgraded one direction as I don't need flexibility on the outbound but want to retain it on the return.
Incidentally, this is the first time I've ever seen a POUG offer in MMB.

Just wondering, is POUG a Flyertalk term or do BA use it too?

It's a BA term which FT now uses (often inaccurately).

Just bagged LHR-JFK WT to WT+ for £133! Pretty much as cheap as it gets. Not really much of a surprise that something was on offer as flightstats shows 9's across the board for a flight that's in 4 days.

Also took the return for a slightly less excellent £171 as it will bump me over to Gold for the first time.

Cheapish - it was £89 for each direction last week. Still a bargain, I'd say. On the return, loadfactor was near 100, so I guess I COULD have gotten an opup as Gold, but this way I got 80TP instead of 20, which is a good start for the new membership year.

The wiki defines POUG as the thing on MMB and excludes airport bought upgrades. So what are airport bought upgrades called?

Are the prices quoted on here exclusively POUG?

Does anyone think it will get any lower or shall I snap it up before it dissapears? I was hoping for a poug and willing to use the 24 hour cancel period if one didn't appear so perhaps I've answered my own question!
A good deal.

I bought CE tickets to HEL yesterday before the Sale finished and paid £613 before CC fee for two seats. This price included the Shareholder discount. The dates for the TP weekend trip are not far off, which may have made a difference.
