An “official POUG” is defined (for the purposes of this wiki) as the rate that appears in red on the MMB/BA app. It is NOT the rate offered at the airport (please see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ng-thread.html), or the rate offered when you click on the “Upgrade my class of travel with money” link from within MMB, or the “Upgrade to the next available cabin” blue/grey banner in the app.
  • All POUGs earn full TPs and Avios for the upgraded cabin, subject to the original booking being paid for with cash.
  • POUGs *ARE* offered on Hand-Baggage Only fares, if available
  • POUGs only become available after 48 hours of making your booking, until any time up to, and including OLCI. After being checked in you will not be offered a POUG.
  • POUGs do not seem to become available for travel agent bookings, until 2-3 days before departure (YMMV)
  • POUGs cannot be requested from Service Centres, except that occasionally BA.com will not proceed with a POUG online and display a message inviting you to call the Service Centre to complete the transaction.
  • After a POUG has been purchased, the ticket become non changeable and non refundable, apart from government taxes.

Please add to this list as required, and include the month/year when the POUG is offered to you.

Needed an extra 10TPs (on top of the TPs from my booked flights) to trigger my second GUF2 and wasn't sure if I'd be taking any more BA flights before the end of my TP year. Decided to grab a POUG on LHR-AMS as even though the service isn't worth the £50, the GUF2 is. Made my LHR-AMS Y booking and no POUG popped up. Phoned to cancel under the 24 hour rule and made another booking. No POUG. Phoned to cancel again and asked the Gold line agent which flight on the day I needed would give me a POUG, expecting an "I don't have that information" response. To my surprise, he said "I can't be certain, but my money would be on the 17.55 for that date."

He was right, too.

Do you think a POUG may still be offered lated for a flight that is showing me the standard upgrade message (that if pursued ends up being prices at £424 one way!)?

It has happened to me in the past. POUGs were available, then disappeared and a few weeks later re-appeared. No idea what this is based on, maybe someone more experienced can shed some light.

Just POUG'd a WAW-LHR flight for £64. Less than I paid in October last year for the same flight (£79).

The extra 30 TPs are very welcome.

I've been offered them on all my upcoming Berlin and Jersey flights. The last couple of time I only got offered the full fare difference straight after payment but later that day, on going to "manage my booking", offers had appeared.

This happened to me. Booked a TLS-LHR single on Tuesday for travel on 19th April and no POUG was offered which was a pain as I deliberately was booking TLS-LHR and LHR-EDI separately in order to hopefully get a POUG , as a CE single leg will get me to Silver at the end of that trip, hence meaning I will start the following trip with silver benefits. I checked MMB everyday since and the upgrade was 555 Euros. Logged in this morning and bingo, 79 Euros was offered and happily accepted. Having experienced the excellent new BA lounge at EDI last weekend during a CE EDI-LHR, LHR-TXL trip, I am looking forward to spending a lot more time there.......

I've been offered a LIS - LHR flight to CE for £85, tax included, and I accepted it.

It's my partner's birthday and I've never flown in CE.

I've just booked the following on BA.com:

6/3 - LHR-FRA
7/3 - CGN-MUC-LHR

Was very much hoping for the POUG to appear but nothing in MMB. Is this likely to be due to the CGN-MUC (Air Berlin) sector or does this not make any difference? Desperately need the TPs if possible! Worth calling BA tomorrow?

Thanks in advance.

I'm on a multi-trip itinerary, BOS-LHR, LHR-DEL, DEL-LHR-NCL, NCL-LHR-BOS. I know I won't get a offer upgrade in MMB. Is it still possible to ask if there are any offers at LHR? I'm specifically looking for an upgrade for the LHR-DEL flight (BA143 on 7th March). I've tried UuA but no luck. I'm in WTP.
