An “official POUG” is defined (for the purposes of this wiki) as the rate that appears in red on the MMB/BA app. It is NOT the rate offered at the airport (please see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ng-thread.html), or the rate offered when you click on the “Upgrade my class of travel with money” link from within MMB, or the “Upgrade to the next available cabin” blue/grey banner in the app.
  • All POUGs earn full TPs and Avios for the upgraded cabin, subject to the original booking being paid for with cash.
  • POUGs *ARE* offered on Hand-Baggage Only fares, if available
  • POUGs only become available after 48 hours of making your booking, until any time up to, and including OLCI. After being checked in you will not be offered a POUG.
  • POUGs do not seem to become available for travel agent bookings, until 2-3 days before departure (YMMV)
  • POUGs cannot be requested from Service Centres, except that occasionally BA.com will not proceed with a POUG online and display a message inviting you to call the Service Centre to complete the transaction.
  • After a POUG has been purchased, the ticket become non changeable and non refundable, apart from government taxes.

Please add to this list as required, and include the month/year when the POUG is offered to you.

Got offered a £69 upgrade to CE on my JER-LGW flight next month at the time of booking. This vanished after a couple of days.

Checked yesterday and back again so took it just now (7 rows of CE on the seat map with half, mostly on the left hand side, taken)

Nothing offered at all for a lunchtime LGW-JER flight but from past experience, usually jammed packed (not to worry as I would have had 4 breakfasts by then and a cold salmon or noodle salad isn't something I'll miss). That said, I would probably upgrade is offered at a decent price.

I have been offered a POUG from WT to WTP for £120 on LHR-JFK on Good Friday.
We are 2 adults on the same PNR, we took it!

It seems to be the best value POUG on the NY route that I have seen.

At that price it gives the impression that they might be expecting to be full so are op-upping people from WT+ to CW at the very least.

I think I am going to make Silver this year with flights already booked and one return to confirm to AMS. I may be 30 pts short if one trip cancels out but I will need another return to AMS which I was going to book as economy hand baggage to save money. I read somewhere the other day that BA sometimes offer a POUG for c £70 for CE. Could I ask, would this likely be made available to a hand luggage only ticket and if so would it then attract the 40pts instead of 10?

Sorry for the questions but I wasn't sure with the answers I found using search.

You might get offered the £70 upgrade to CE and yes you would get 40TP instead of 10.

Thanks Xenole, think I'll just go ahead and book the hand baggage fare and see what happens.

But I also got £179 for LHR-ATH-LHR on the same booking one day before departure, and £80 on the return leg two days before departure of this leg. Did not try to take it, so I don't know if it would work or increased to £99.
Got the £99 today for LHR-ATH too (flying tomorrow) - it wasn't available the last few days. Didn't take it as it is on the 767 which i hate. I'm still annoyed this is the most expensive ET upgrade..

Offered £69 MAH-LCY which I took despite no difference in the seating. Not sure why to be honest. An expensive meal!

Being one of the longest shorthaul routes, £99 is good value when much shorter routes (Band 3) can be up to £89.

A question - will I get a POUG offer for a multi-segment itinerary? It appears my trip's second segment is oversold, but will I be able to POUG the first segment or not?

Most likely will not be offered through MMB.
May be offered at OLCI, or an AUP.

Thanks! Had it been offered at MMB time, how much before would that have been? OLCI will open on Friday.
