An “official POUG” is defined (for the purposes of this wiki) as the rate that appears in red on the MMB/BA app. It is NOT the rate offered at the airport (please see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ng-thread.html), or the rate offered when you click on the “Upgrade my class of travel with money” link from within MMB, or the “Upgrade to the next available cabin” blue/grey banner in the app.
  • All POUGs earn full TPs and Avios for the upgraded cabin, subject to the original booking being paid for with cash.
  • POUGs *ARE* offered on Hand-Baggage Only fares, if available
  • POUGs only become available after 48 hours of making your booking, until any time up to, and including OLCI. After being checked in you will not be offered a POUG.
  • POUGs do not seem to become available for travel agent bookings, until 2-3 days before departure (YMMV)
  • POUGs cannot be requested from Service Centres, except that occasionally BA.com will not proceed with a POUG online and display a message inviting you to call the Service Centre to complete the transaction.
  • After a POUG has been purchased, the ticket become non changeable and non refundable, apart from government taxes.

Please add to this list as required, and include the month/year when the POUG is offered to you.

It can be offered through MMB at any time from the day of purchase to OLCI.

LHR-HND: WTP to F for £1,384.40... WT and CW seem to be full... Is it a good deal? Wanted to upgrade with Avios but it's impossible!

A colleague of mine was offered a POUG via MMB on a LHR-ZRH flight in May for 88 CHF / 60 GBP. This was not offered straight after booking; flight is wide open in fare class "I".

Took it on my expenses as she is travelling with me on this flight and it will be her first flight in CE

I would say yes, although whether it is a good deal for *you* is another question.

Think of it as £800 to go WTP to CW and £600 to go CW to F.

On a full flight that seems to be well below the likely original fare difference.

For the tracking, I have an ex-EU from OSL in November and the positioning flights have been offered as an upgrade at £64 each way.

LCA is much longer and it is £89. IST is the same length and it is £89. SOF and TIA are not much shorter and they are both £89.

But the main reason i didn't take it is the 767, where there was a high chance i would end up with someone else right next to me. So the seating experience would be as uncomfortable as Y and I would be paying £99 just to receive some champagne.. (yes I know I'd also receive 60 extra TPs and lounge access, but both of these were of no significance to me).

I have recently had LHR-IST ET-CE for £109(offered right after booking, flight in June, took it for such a long flight).

Also VIE-LHR ET-CE for €79 offered now, flight in 2 weeks.
Recently LHR-BUD ET-CE for £79 offered right after booking in January present in MMB until OLCI, flight was in March.

And lastly, and a bit annoyingly, no offer for POUG on any of my 4 upcoming flights LHR-OSL or vice versa. Luckily, I don't need the TP, as I gave up on making Gold this year anyway.

Currently offering $245 for WT-WT+ YYZ-LHR April 21. I'm annoyed because the price to buy WT+ outright is cheaper than I paid for my WT ticket! I'll probably wait it out a few days to see if the offer price comes down (it usually settles around $200) and take it. I've been spoiled by OPUPs on every segment for the past year or so so I feel like my luck is probably running out!
