An “official POUG” is defined (for the purposes of this wiki) as the rate that appears in red on the MMB/BA app. It is NOT the rate offered at the airport (please see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ng-thread.html), or the rate offered when you click on the “Upgrade my class of travel with money” link from within MMB, or the “Upgrade to the next available cabin” blue/grey banner in the app.
  • All POUGs earn full TPs and Avios for the upgraded cabin, subject to the original booking being paid for with cash.
  • POUGs *ARE* offered on Hand-Baggage Only fares, if available
  • POUGs only become available after 48 hours of making your booking, until any time up to, and including OLCI. After being checked in you will not be offered a POUG.
  • POUGs do not seem to become available for travel agent bookings, until 2-3 days before departure (YMMV)
  • POUGs cannot be requested from Service Centres, except that occasionally BA.com will not proceed with a POUG online and display a message inviting you to call the Service Centre to complete the transaction.
  • After a POUG has been purchased, the ticket become non changeable and non refundable, apart from government taxes.

Please add to this list as required, and include the month/year when the POUG is offered to you.

That's odd! How do you see the fare basis though?

POUG's usually book in to a redemption fare bucket.

You can view the fare basis using classic.checkmytrip.com. I have a future POUG shorthaul which has fare basis IPOUG.

Always thought that was the case on long haul but never seen it in 20+ POUGs on short haul...! Always been into I class, given that is rarely used as a cash bucket for CE except during sales

I have a trip to VIE next month and in MMB, I'm offered to upgrade to CE for £64 one-way. When I click on it, it shows me the 2 flights, with £64 offered on LHR-VIE but on the return, where it normally shows "£xx per adult to upgrade to Club Europe on this flight", it shows "I wish to upgrade this flight to Club Europe (prices will be displayed on next page)".

When I choose to upgrade both outbound and inbound flights, or just the outbound, an error message shows up that says "We're sorry but this flight cannot be upgraded online. Please contact your local reservations office".

Anyone know why BA is offering the upgrade online, but then won't allow me to actually do it?

Thanks!

I've got that exact same offer and website bug on a flight LHR-CPH next week...wonder if their website is erroneous.

The system appears to be rather bug-infested at the moment. I'm getting £69 POUG offers for three flights already POUGed to CE, along with upgrade offers ranging up to €12,604 for HEL-LHR...

Here are my additions:
IAH-LHR:
WT -> WT+ : $300
WT -> CW: $800

LHR-IAH:
WT -> WT+ £189

These are the only offers I have seen on this route and the price has never changed.

Airport upgrade US$ 300pp for Y to W KIN - LGW, also got access to Club Kingston lounge which I wasn't expecting only being Bronze.

Not sure which Avios I'll get as have seen conflicting info. Any thoughts?

One of a few upgrade bugs. I am not impressed when the system offers me an upgrade but then it is not available....

Hello everyone.I am flying Thursday 27th ATH-LHR and from there, after 1,5 hours, flying LHR-LIN in Milan.After 3 days flying back to LHR on 30th and back to ATH from LHR on 6th of April.All segments are on economy and i was hoping for an upgrade since last January, which so far has not appeared yet.Have been checking my MMB on BA site every day but nothing showed up, even if there are 9 seats in CS as award at least in one segment(ATH-LHR) and at least 1 at the segment LHR-LIN.I understand that i might be the multi stop nature of the trip ,which is not in the A-B-A way but shouldn't i have a chance to upgrade at least the segments that the award seats are available?
What would you recommend doing next?call the customer service of BA in England and ask for an upgrade or go at the airport of ATH this Thursday morning and ask them for an upgrade paying in cash(where do i enquire that?at the check in desk or at the ticket sales kiosk of BA)?By calling in England the cost of upgrade would be the same as the one appears on the MMB page?

I know that the proactive upgrade is many times a lottery and other times based on how busy CE or CW is but all the previous times i got an upgrade offer(for instance ATH-LHR-IAD from WT to WTP+ )....i need those tier points to retain my silver status so any help would be greatly appreciated.Thank you in advance

Yes I suspect that routing is taking away a POUG offer, though it's entirely possible that none are available on any of your sectors. A simple there and back, or a single ticket, seems to give the greatest chance. Your options - unless you get an offer at Online Checkin (OLCI) - is to ring BA Customer Services to pay the full cost of Club Europe - likely to be many hundreds of Euros - alternatively, at Athens Airport, to go to the BA ticket counter and ask if they have any Airport Upgrade Promotions. AUP and POUGs are in the same area and lower than the full upgrade cost. Then in Heathrow you would need to do the same, at the ticket desk by gate 13 airside (and various other places inside LHR too).

Thank you very very much for the concise and quick reply.Since the customer support in England can upgrade me without an offer in the POUG range, i think i better take my chances at the airport of Athens.Checking at KVS tool i found that there are 9 award seats at least for the first segment so ,being lucky enough, i can get an extra of 60 tier points.As about Heathrow airport,is the gate 13 at Terminal 5 ,that i can try to upgrade my air ticket?i guess i have to go to connection flights and then to the level 2 of departures to seek BA customer service....and i was supposed to make my flight schedule like that to get more tier points..lesson learnt!! Hope your advice works for me.Anyhow thank you again!!

Was just offered POUG for £99 LHR to TLS... seemed a bit steep given the price for longer European destinations being cheaper based on this thread... have they increased the prices systemwide recently?
