ASsuming we have then moved to M&M, do we think they would be seeking additional miles to meet any shortfall.

Nobody knows for sure. Should DC be M&M in August 2011, I suspect we'll be subject to M&M T&Cs for any changes. Whether this means additional miles, or no changes, just cancellations and rebooking via M&M it is hard to say. I'd be surprised if they were flexible with DC bookings post-merger as this would only encourage everyone to book tickets they weren't planning to utilise in their existing form.

Like most things merger based, we'll just have to wait (and wait some more) before we find anything out for certain.

Yep.

You will just need one ticket as this is the most direct route. You can ticket on 772, 773, 747 and 330 in the Premium classes. Basically just the 77W and A380 is blocked.

Thanks for this info re HKG to DPS via SIN. Could you just confirm how many miles this would be for cash and miles in business class/person. I think it should be 11250 miles + £75 + taxes, or is there a charge for stopover?

No charges for stopovers and yes your miles are correct. Can't remember the cash portion of hand but sounds about right.

Can anyone advise generally on routes from London or Europe to the Caribbeans excluding Bahamas?

One stop via USA would be your easiest option. Depends on where though?

Having trouble booking this redemption due to allegation of backtracking:
Miles + cash - 2pax TATL biz, USA internals econ

UA100 SFO/IAD (Washington DC) Economy STOP
LH445 ATL/FRA Biz
LH978 – FRA/DUB Biz

ICC says this is not the most direct route and that I must travel SFO/LHR/DUB. I'm trying to get to the America's southern states for our honeymoon, having already successfully bagged a pair of coveted seats on NZ business class LHR/LAX.

I then suggested
UA134 SFO/ORD Econ
UA 7466 ORD/RIC Econ Richmond STOP
LH445 ATL/FRA Biz
LH978 – FRA/DUB Biz

But he wasn't having any of it.

Looking to leave SFO around 8 June and need to be in ATL for 19 June

Thx Grantosol

Ring back and speak to one of the female agents

It isn't the most direct route, but you shouldn't need to do the route the agent suggested as you are perfectly entitled to a stopover in North America. SFO-IAD-ATL is a bit of a backtrack though, so I can understand them being funny about it, even though some agents probably wouldn't say a thing about it.

Either try again with a different agent, or try to route to ATL in a slightly more direct fashion, such as via PHX, DEN or IAH.

Nonsense. Ring back and request Dennis :D

Thanks for the advice guys - will spend another couple of hours tonight on the ANA tool. It's complex, but I know we'll get there in the end..

I've been playing this game for years so know how bloody hard it is. I still can't understand how non-FT'ers ever go anywhere, unless they use their miles to redeem for "free" bottles of wine or car hire

As I am reading it though Grantosol is saying that he wants to proceed on surface between IAD and ATL (or catch a flight that doesn't form part of the trip).

I would personally either try another agent and explain the bit about the surface piece, or fly to somewhere sufficiently west of, or perpendicular to ATL and then catch a paid ticket to IAD or RIC or wherever and then do the surface piece.

That's true, however even surface sectors count according to PTS (who I trust on these matters unlike the ICC!). I still don't think it is much of a backtrack at all in real terms, but the ICC have been enforcing things a lot more strictly over the past few months. (Such as issues with routing Z1/2-8 via zone 7 which was always fine to do in the past)

Now I'm not trying to be terribly cheeky here but was wondering if this would potentially be allowed with a stop in SIN given there is no other way on *A to fly it?

DPS-SIN(stop)-CGK as a Z7 to Z7

Could it be a MPM problem in addition to the backtracking? Am returning from DPS to SIN and a few weeks later need to go to CGK. Happy to hear any thoughts. No issue if not permitted, but can't hurt to ask.

EDIT: Think I can likely answer my own question. Tried it in *A flight search and comes up blank. So most likely a no go. No issue.

Hi,

I would like to use my BD miles before they get devalued by M&M. :td:

One interesting destination seems to be KTM. On Staralliance.com it shows me no availabilty from FRA to KTM? I heard about routing via BKK (with possible Stopover?). Is this right? What kind of routings with possible stopover would be allowed to KTM with as Z1-Z10 award from FRA?

Thanks in advance
Chris

Sorry, real Newbie here. Dreading phoning our Indian colleagues and want it to be as painless as possible.

Is there any reason why I wouldn't get this one through?

EDI LHR
LHR IAD
IAD MCO (next day)

and similar return. All showing available on ANA with UA at the moment. Likely be miles + cash redemption.
