You will pay the £20 change fee and any difference in taxes if they happen to fall in the airline's favour.

If, however, the difference falls in your favour previous experience says that they will not tell you that the taxes are now less and you will need to be speaking to the refunds department to get back what's owed to you.

That will be a hard one. I don't think they will allow MNL via BOM.

flytofly Dec 6, 2010 6:17 pm

EDI - FRA- BOM - BKK - MNL - ICN - FRA - EDI

My guess is that this is a Z1/Z7 award
As only one stopover is allowed per award. I would suggest that you book two one ways.

Outbound: EDI-FRA-BOM-BKK-MNL (Stopover either in BOM or BKK, but not in FRA)

Inbound: MNL-ICN-FRA-EDI Z7/Z1(Stopover in ICN possible)

I don't think they will allow your routing as Z1/Z8. That said, EDI-FRA-BOM-BKK-ICN with a stopover either in BOM or BKK could be possible depending on the agent at ICC. EDI-FRA-BKK(stopover)-ICN is a valid routing for sure.

This is only my guess based on my experience with ICC.

But the rule of the thumb is to try as many agents as possible.
some agents may allow certain routings while others may not, although these days they are generally more stricter than before.

Good luck!

This would be my guess too but YMMV. Also getting this as a Z1-Z7 would not strike me as a terribly bad deal if allowed. Yes Z8 is cheaper but hey other airline FFPs would reject a routing like this outright as it has too many segments and is not the most direct route for sure. So try Z1-Z8 but be willing to accept Z1-Z7 would be my advise.

I didnt realise you were only allowed one stopover, I was hoping to do stopovers in BOM, BKK, MNL and ICN!

If you book at 2 one ways to/from MNL you can have one stopover in each direction (you can stop somewhere <24 hours without it being classed as a stopover) so in theory you could do BOM or BKK (with up to 23 hours 59 mins in the other) on the way out and ICN on the way back - if they allow the routings

cheers, how many miles plus cash in business would 2 one ways cost me?

flytofly Dec 7, 2010 3:30 am

That will be 60000 miles + 405 Pounds(cash portion) + credit card fee (currently 4.50 Pounds)+ Taxes and fuel surcharge.

for your info, when you book ICN-FRA sector, try to fly OZ in lieu of LH. OZ's YQ and taxes are EUR 57 vs LH's YQ and taxes EUR 123. So, OZ is cheaper than LH, but the service on board is slightly better.

Think I'll give the BOM leg a miss completely and do

EDI - FRA - BKK (stopover) - MNL one way and

MNL - ICN (stopover) - FRA - EDI

briantoronto Dec 9, 2010 6:07 pm

I think this is pretty simple, but...

I have 23K of DC points I want to burn, and will be in Asia later this year.

I am thinking two one way awards (C class, cash and points):

1. HND » PEK (stopover) » BKK
2. HKG » CTS

The only thing I am wondering about is: is a stop-over allowed given that HND and PEK are in the same zone?

flytofly Dec 9, 2010 6:42 pm

Yes, one stopover is allowed within zone 8.

I don't think there is a direct *A flight between hong kong and Sapporo.
BTW, why did you leave BKK-HKG secor out?

You can also fly BKK-HKG with TG, stopover
HKG-HND NH
HND-CTS NH as OW award.
