SFO to YWG to IAD with stop over

Is this routing permitted as a one-way award, with a stopover in YWG?

Bochis Dec 27, 2010 8:15 pm

Eze-yyz-fra-edi

Keep on being told this is an invalid routing....is that right?

Just want some advice on a booking i'm planning to do in may - july before dealing with the lovely folks at the ICC

Based in AKL
Essentially booking a Z9-Z8 (hong kong) award but need a stopover in melbourne along the way for work purposes for 2 months

would an outbound AKL-MEL-xBKK-HKG be allowed with the melbourne stopover being 8 weeks? or is there too much backtracking? I could just buy a cheap Y fare AKL-MEL but the prospect of being able to do the whole thing in J is nice

the return would be either HKG-xBKK-AKL or HKG-xNRT-AKL. I know the NRT option is a backtrack but it seems like the only options available

any advice?

Here's something which I wonder is possible...

HKG-x/BKK-KUL /-openjaw-/ SIN-x/JNB-CPT

Stopover in KUL, then to CPT.

Do ya think?

Air NZ fly direct HKG-MEL why can't you fly that route on the way back?

I think you would get away with AKL-MEL-BKK-HKG though

NZ fly direct HKG - AKL yes but there is no I inventory for the whole of July!
The only way to get back is via BKK SIN or NRT

Come back through PVG.

PVG has the most availability in business.
Then Japan.
Then PEK.
And rarely HKG.

I am assuming the HKG-AKL flight has the most revenue tickets sold for business class.

Hmm I'll look into it. Looking at distances, HKG-PVG-AKL and HKG-NRT-AKL are similar anyways are they not?

Route for PPT

looking to blow the last of the miles in style

thinking of EDI-LHR-NRT(stopover)-AKL-PPT
returning PPT-AKL-BKK-FRA-EDI (stopover in either AKL or BKK)

obviously booking as 2 one ways....any idea if this would be acceptable

as an aside - I have a booking to LAX in May and not knowing if I would get round to using many miles before rumoured change used miles-only. I still have an internal US sector to add once we sort out dates properly so would be calling to add it on later and pating change/additional taxes - can I change this booking to miles and cash (not a problem if not as can always buy the additional for the above trip if am still some short but just wondered.)

thanks

Quite possibly, as the EZE-YYZ route is actually EZE-SCL-YYZ, and there are direct flights EZE-FRA. You might have more luck picking somewhere else in Europe to transit (LHR or CPH, maybe), but no guarantees.

Europe-S America via N America (or VV) is valid. I did GIG-CLT-LGW earlier this year and that was no problem and routes to Europe via YYZ (and other North American locations) do still exist on the *A timetable, I've just found SCL-YYZ-LHR as an example. Although TAM joining *A probably hasn't helped getting routes like this passed as there are now vastly more direct S America-Europe options by transiting GRU and GIG.

Can't really suggest anything other than persistence, or other transit cities, could you do EZE-YYZ-LHR-EDI for instance? Is there a reason for chosing AC, do you want a stopover in YYZ?

I need to get 4 people from DPS to SGN and then onward to BKK and paid tickets are rediculously expensive. I haven't done a BMI redemption in a while... Before I call, do people think I could book this as follows?
DPS-SIN /SQ/ (less than 24 hour connection onward from SIN)
SIN-SGN /SQ/ (3 day stopover in SGN)
SGN-BKK /LH/ (destination)

I would love to get this all in under a single intrazone one way with a stopover.

I think it's valid.
According to GCM, it's about 18% more than direct flight.

Thanks BHDBOY! I have family in Toronto and was hoping to visit them a bit before continuing on to EDI.

After playing some telephone roulette with some very persistent Indians I finally got an agent to reserve EZE-YYZ-LHR-EDI on the 3rd go.

Z8 to Z2 with stopover once in Z8

HKG-PEK-NRT (no HKG-NRT available,stopover)-MUC-MXP.

I was quoted 1 Z8 to Z8 + Z8 to Z2 redemption and told the most direct route should be via FRA or IST (from HKG).

Any comments?
