Can anyone advise on how many miles a return two leg journey from zone 1 to zone 2 should be?

http://www.flybmi.com/bmi/en-gb/loya...e-flights.aspx

Does it mean it will be 19.5k in Y and 28.75k in J plus Tax. I am assuming no stopover is allowed else it'll become 24k in y and 36k in J.

Open the FAQ#1 from the READ THIS FIRST sticky, and you'll find an explanation of the "connecting flights" surcharge, and some worked examples. :)

No stopovers allowed in Europe. Mileage depends where you stop, assuming you stop at the same place in both directions, if you stop in Z1 then it will be 9,000 (Z1-Z1) + 12,000 (Z1-Z2); if you stop in Z2 it will be 12,000 (Z1-Z2) + 20,000 (Z2-Z2). Plan your stops wisely.

If you stop in one direction of the return trip only, then calculate as 2 one-ways, one with a stop, one without.

All clear now. Thanks.

Upgrading with miles

Hi,

Sorry if this is covered elsewhere, I searched but couldn't find anything. And apologies if it's a basic question - I'm a BA loyalist but have c.40000 DC miles to burn.

When using miles to upgrade,

1) can you only upgrade on BMI?
2) is the list of destinations really as restrictive as the BMI website suggests?http://www.flybmi.com/bmi/en-gb/loya...ur-flight.aspx.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I'm keen to use these to get me + Mrs DK to LA

1) Yes
2) Uhhh...that's everywhere they fly (ignore Ukraine; Kiev ended a year ago. Oh, and add Austria, as in VIE, to the 5,000 mile list.)

Thanks FlyingOnceMore. I guess not the answer I was hoping for!

Any advice on best value for 40k then?

FlyingOnceMore Jan 12, 2011 9:54 am

From LHR to the US, 37,500 miles would get one C ticket on a Cash & Miles basis, so if you have the funds, you could buy one revenue ticket and one award ticket. By the same method 30K would also get you one C ticket to Z5 on a Cash & Miles basis; DXB for example. Obviously there are other uses, like one C ticket on a Cash & Miles basis to Z8; HKG for example, if you start in Z2.

On a Miles Only basis, 36K would get you 2 C return tickets to Z2; LHR-IST on TK for example.

DXB-BKK-LAX

Anyone know if this would be allowed on a single Z5-Z3 award? BKK would be a stopover, if that makes any difference. Thx.

Tiger_lily Jan 12, 2011 1:42 pm

That route is about 3000 miles more than going via Europe.

All I can suggest is phone up and ask. I can't remember anybody even trying to go that way around to LAX, so I don't think that there's a reference point for it.

That should be a allowed routing. I have done this one before.

desiman Jan 14, 2011 9:09 am

I have confirmed with DC that this is valid routing.

ISB-BKK-SIN-(stopover)-LHR

for 25k Z10-Z1 award.

And have confirmed this works too

ISB-BKK-(stopover)-OSL-MAN

however, would the following also work?

ISB-BKK-SIN-(stopover)-BKK-OSL-MAN

as my real final destination is MAN, and there is not direct availibilty SIN-MAN.

Me2E Jan 14, 2011 10:58 am

ISB-BKK-SIN-(stopover)-BKK-OSL-MAN would be an obvious backtrack and would not be allowed. If ISB-BKK-SIN-(stopover)-LHR is allowed, there should be no problem tacking on a LHR-MAN flight within the same Z10-Z1 redemption.

Lima-Nassau on AC

Is it allowed to use AC through their Vancouver hub to travel from Lima to the Bahamas? Also where do I find awards on AC, as they are not shown on the ANA tool, however it is a route that prices out on the AC site?

AC is on the ANA tool. The issue may be the particular dates you are looking for.

The routing you mention is unlikely to happen. Via IAH on CO would be a more likely starting place to try to route.

taff_2003 Jan 18, 2011 6:02 am

Is this route likely to be declined on the basis of back-tracking?

SFO - YVR
YVR - ORD
ORD - LHR

Thanks.
