I checked for some rentals and the codes that work for me are A177232 (USAA) and B999000 (AVIS Employee??). I looked up the USAA AVIS rental benefits it seems that there are a few mentioned at http://www.avis.com/car-rental/html/...faq.html#ans12
I am having second thoughts on using the USAA codes in case I get into an accident. My guess is that once that happens, your AWD code gets looked at to see if you qualify for any waivers and at that point it might become apparant to AVIS that the usage of that code is invalid for my rental. (I waive all insurance coverages at the time of rental). Has anyone have any experience with this kinda situation? My real fear is that not only will AVIS invalidate the code after the accident (I can live with that) but AMEX will not allow me to use the Premium Rental Protection because I committed "fraud" in the first place. The other code B999000 seems to be too good to be true. If I actually use the avis.co.uk site and use this code on top of that, I am getting luxury car (with LDW/SLI included) for a ridiculous amount. It is discounting the full sticker price by about 80~90%, which I am sure will guarantee a second look at my reservation. I read some older threads, and it seems that this code is a big trouble. |

Deal! The FatWallet code said it was Hawaii Bar Association. Should I file this under too good to be true? I also see that www.discounthawaiicarrental.com has same vehicle for about $20 more. They seem to be reputable from what I have found online. Anyone have any input on either of these codes? I have a confimred reservation with Enterprise for $225 for Intermediate and I like Enterprise due to allowance of spouse as driver for no fee, but thanks to FT I found Avis/Budget allow the same.
Also, due to length of rental the coupon MUAA046 would give me 1750 AA miles. Do they add the .75/day for this at the rental counter? I don't mind using this coupon instead of $ coupon as almost all $ coupons are not eligible in Hawaii. Using the AWD above (A679100) gets some great rates. Will it work? I'm going to be in LIH JUl 25 - Aug 8. I am seeing a rate of $200/week incl taxes. Can someone let me know if this AWD will work when I pick up the car? |
Coupon code for NYC??
I tried to add a coupon code for JFK and it says that this location does not participate in corporate coupons. It did take the AWD number.
Anyone have a coupon code for NYC? Free weekend day? $$ off?? Anything? |

looking for LA, off airport
Hi,
I am new to this. I am looking for a weekly rental for a 4-door with decent trunk like Chevy Malibu, Corola or even Yaris(small but decent trunk) not at airport in west Los Angeles, or Valley, preferably West LA, Beverly Hills, westwood, or around North Hollywood, Studio City etc. I have "preferred Avis card" and the best deal I got was 166 / week for Intermediate class. I tried USirritated's link below ***THANKS**, and somehow figured out this great deal: http://www.smartbizsavings.com/avis-discounts.php which gives me 25% off, so it comes out to 155 a week for intermediate(pontiac G6) total is 172 with tax Is this a Good deal? as said before, I am new to this and appreciate anyone's suggestion

AWD numbers are negotiated CONTRACTUAL rates, while coupons are just that coupons, and generally not contractual or negotiated. Rental locations must accept AWD numbers, but they are not always required to accept coupons.

If you search this thread solely you will find over 150 references to this code including... #1678 Just tried D005297 and it was $50 more total for a 4 day rental. #1769 ...but it sounds like D005297 may be dead #1779 had been using D005297 for years, and then was told one day it was an "expired" code not valid any more and he'd have to pony up rack rate If you search only thread titles in the Avis forum you will find threads D005297 Beware and D005297 "May it rest in peace" |
Great link, I got this price 167.79 for a week in LA:

My local rental office (in Europe) is quite strict, and ask for employment proof for any codes linked to a certain company. This thread is miles long and very old, let's have a summary of codes which they can't make problems and currently work. It's a difficult request, but whoever manages to do this, will be doing this thread a huge fauvor. |

K851000 is the AWD number for Hhonors, and it has been mentioned that it works well in Italy. A153700 and D086533 have been mentioned as being good AWD numbers both specifically for Italy, and generally for Europe, although I do not know where these particular AWD numbers are sourced from. (They have been mentioned as both being for the same company, the first one for employees of that company [I saw one mention that this is the US Avis employee number, so beware!], and the second for customers of that company, but the company name is not certain.) B149870 is supposed to be good in Europe generally, but again, the company affliliation is unknown. L358190 is the number for the BMW Car Club of America, and should work worldwide. Note - this is for a club, not for a company, so the RA will never be able to ask you for your company ID! At least one of those should give you a 30% discount, and one or two on the list might be as high as 50%. However, some of these will work in some European Countries on certain dates, but might not work in other European Countries, or on other dates. YMMV Let us know what works, okay? |

It's seems quite simple, join Hhonors, and I assume you are free to use it. |

A recent experience with longstanding AWD codes
Over the years I have found this thread to be hugely valuable. As a refresher for anyone new here, a useful list of codes can be found on Page 66 of this thread, Post #967. It's a few years old, perhaps there's an updated post somewhere between then and now, but I don't have the patience to go through it.
I'm a Presidential Preferred Member, which is for holders of the Continental Airlines Presidential Plus MasterCard. Recently I was trying to do a one day rental on short notice in Miami, and found that there was no availability for anything but luxury class, with a SmartCar (as if!) available for $48 for the day and a compact class car for $99 a day, and then a limited number of options ranging from $179 for the day and up. Otherwise every other car class was showing as "Sold Out." Put in the AWD code D005297 - ASAP (ameteur sports assistance program, which I've used many times in the past), no change. Put in the AWD code J868801 - Florida Visitor Bureau and BOOM! suddenly there was availability for subcompact class right through to full size and beyond. Subcompact, Compact and Intermediate were coming up at $44, $45 and $47 respectively (cheaper than that SmartCar which curiously went up to $50 for the day). Got the same results using D833357 - The American Society of Travel Agents. Then I put in A074800 - Citicorp Leisure Travel. The rates on the classes above dropped to $32, $33, and $34. I have never used this code before. I found it very curious that there was no availability for a Preferred Member (or anyone else), but once I input a few AWDs, suddenly there were cars available, at drastically lower prices. Anyway ... just sharing this experience for any who find it useful, or informative. |
Code:
Put in the AWD code D005297 - ASAP (ameteur sports assistance program, which I've used many times in the past), no changeThis code increased my price from $172 to $222... |

Question on codes
I'm renting a car in Portland, ME in october and thought I had found a good price until I googled and found this forum!
My question is, I currently have a reservation under AWD C066983 (which is FL Golf Entertainment Association (open to all golfers and family, no ID required) for a total of $279.40 (after taxes for 3day/18hours). If I use AWD A074800 (Citicorp Leis. Travel) it drops it down to $201.96.....will I have to show proof of something at the rental counter to obtain this rate?? Also, can a coupon code be used for a free weekend day ontop of the Citicorp rate? (TUGA083) THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!! |

That said, I recently had a rez in ANC using a "dubious" code (not this one) and I was supposed to get an additional $5/day off using a coupon. I didn't get the coupon discount on my final bill. Given the circumstance -- I was already saving something like $35/day with the code -- I didn't press the matter. I much prefer the Alamo/National system where you confirmation email clearly shows your FINAL price, including coupons. If there's a dispute, it's much easier to convince the counter agent that you've been overcharged. |
What exactly is Citicorp Leisure Travel?? Is this something that comes with a business or gold Citi card?? It's just if I use this code and get to the rental counter and they ask me where I got it from I don't want to look like an idiot and say I don't know.....!

What AWD numbers are you entitled to use or have? Have you done any coupon codes research, or are you just expecting us to do it for you?
I've checked several but still lowest I can find is like $30 a day. I've checked multiple coupon codes/AWD even if I'm not entitled to use them. |

SXM
Does anyone have a code that will work for SXM? It seems all the ones I have tried are not valid there. Thanks in advanced.
|
I have a suggestion. It will probably be ignored but I'm going to suggest it anyway.
In the future if people make posts of the nature of "I need advice on a code, I tried all the other ones and they didn't work for my date/location/car class/whatever" I think they should include, at a minimum, dates car class location ALL the other codes they have tried along with the rate each of those codes gave This will not only help people on this thread be more helpful, but I think a lot of us are more inclined to help those who have already shown that they've made some effort to help themselves, and simply saying "I tried all the codes and none of them worked" is frankly a little questionable considering how often the claim is made here. Not calling out anyone in particular, just saying what would make ME more likely to spend 2 minutes trying to help someone out. Cheers |

I seriously doubt that you would find any effective coupons for that particular type of vehicle at that particular location. My guess is that SXM stocks almost no full size or luxury crossover suv's, and because of that there will be little, if any, discounting available. As a matter of fact, since it is such a small island, and since it is predominately a leisure destination, and not a business destination, you might not find any coupons or discounts that will work for SXM, although I could be wrong about that last point. Just my guess. YMMV.

Appreciate the response, and yes I am kind of figuring the latter since none of the codes had any effect on the pricing of any type of vehicle, not just the ones I am looking for.

I concur. If cost is your primary motivation then you are probably better off not using Avis for this trip. From carrentals.com it looks like Dollar has a full size SUV for ~210 Euros including all taxes, some 100 Euros less than Avis for those dates. Hotwire doesn't even come up with anything at SXM.
