why no one-way drop fee showing up?

I'm trying to book a one-way car rental (SAN to LAX), and most companies charge either a $53 or so drop fee, or a per mile fee. My total Avis price for 2days came to $92.
Should I worry that there's a "hidden" fee in there somewhere for the one-way charge?
Are there discounts that work for one-way rentals?

TrayflowInUK Oct 7, 2007 3:52 am

Just make sure that it says unlimited free miles. Any drop fee will be listed in the booking.

The "big" companies (such as Avis, etc.) are usually only found in bigger cities. With respect to codes, I don't know if Avis has them for Brazil and if it even pays. Good Luck

P.S.: Unless you are in one of the bigger cities/airports, you might have a hard time finding English-speaking agencies, so brush up on your portuguese!

Wow, 4 months in Brazil ~ must have either seemed like paradise or a long-term sentence, or perhaps a bit of both... ;)

I am here in SJK now, so will check out Localiza. Thanks for your helpful response.

I tried a bunch of codes for a car rental this Friday at GSO. None of them came up cheaper than my corporate code. The best rate I have found for a compact so far is $ 87 + taxes = $ 120 in all

October 12th - October 16th

Any tips?

Interested to know as have been using codes with no problem but am worried now!

I've been using my favorite code L093590 for many years now and have been in 2 accidents. In both cases I never heard a word from Avis regarding repairs. I got the code from this site and it has always provided a very low competitive (maybe not the absolute rock bottom in every case) rate, unlimited miles, and free LDW. I do also use a credit card that offers primary coverage (Diners Club), but in my accident experiences, it was not needed as the LDW applied. I rent within the USA only. The "L" code has been a reliable code on these boards for years.

Any good AWD code for Australia?

Tried most of the codes in this tread for a rental in Sydney. Most do not change the rate. The best is the K019300 (?UA) or B335100 (BA). But only drop the rate from $260 to $220 for 2 days (Toyota Targra)

Any better AWD codes?

K444404??

Has anyone used code K444404? When I enter it, the rate is more than 50% less than rack rate...Does anyone know where it is from? I am hesitant to use it because I don't know where it is from and don't know if I'll be questioned as to where I got it or if I have a certain club or corporate ID. I also don't want to have to pay rack rate if they give me a hard time! Any input will be appreciated!

Didn't know until just reading the posting from Swiss Circle that it's the code from Netjets. Thanks for the information.

I've used K444404 twice in the past 2 weeks to get great one-day pricing in Germany. It brought the cost from 64 Euros (price with LH gold Visa discount) down to 46 Euros (including one-way fees) for a VW Golf, actually in this case a brand-new Opel Zafira (with only 7 kilometers on it). For this Thursday I've got a subcompact reserved for 34 Euros (including one-way charges from Bielefeld to DUS, just in case the Bundesbahn should be striking again).

There were no questions about the code I was using.

ghurty Oct 15, 2007 9:51 am

I read somewhere that the AWD C031529 got blacklisted, but I found a new one that gives even better rates AND waives the underage fee. I managed to get a rate of $64 for a fullsize out of JFK, and $54 out of EWR. The AWD number is: G298100.

For once I am able to give back to the forum. ;-)

K444404 only for Europe?!?

First, I'm wondering if the Avis code K444404 only produces discounts for Europe? I tried this code for Seattle (end of October, 2007) and it gives me a higher rate than the regular rate without any code!
Second, code G298100 is brand new. Does anyone have info on this code (corporate code?).

Thanks

I have used it, it belongs to a company called "gevoha", after searching online, it looks like it is some sort of computer consultant company . So far I was never asked for an ID. A friend of mine that used it said that in New York he was able to rent at the age of 18 with out a problem, but I dont if that was a fluke or not.

I just did a fake booking and it is a big savings. It went from $228.00 to $157.00. I did a search and it said it's a code for Kellwood. I have no clue who or what that is.

Kellwood is a marketer of apparel and consumer soft goods. Must be somewhat big (they are listed on the NYSE)

ghurty Oct 17, 2007 9:41 am

On a follow up regarding the gevoha AWD (G298100). I confirmed that it waives the underage fee even for 18+. Also that LDW is included.

Thanks for the great codes My2centsworth!

A074800 is the only code I've found so far that makes a difference in MSY over Thanksgiving (about $30 savings over 5 days...) The problem is that even when I make the reservation while logged into my account, it ends up losing my wizard number and saying "Avis Prefered: No" on the confirmation document. This is really a problem since I'm Chairman's and of course the benefits of that outweigh a $30 savings...anyone know a workaround?

SwissCircle Oct 19, 2007 12:26 am

Request car Rental codes (23 Dec - Jan 1)

I am new at this, my friend told me about this forum. However, I'm in the US Army completing a tour in Iraq. I'm scheduled to fly into Jacksonville Intl (Jax) 23 Dec, pick-up a rental car for nine days.

Any codes I can use that will be a great saving during that time frame? I'm open for any suggestions. Again, I new at this. Thanks in advance.

Not just Europe - south America as well (well, at least Costa Rica).

B935200 (Sam's Club, I think) has been working pretty well for me. No special ID, like a Sam's Club card, ever requested.

BTW, I got this when I walked up to an Avis counter with no line. I had a Hertz reservation, but Hertz had a long line.
"Can ya match this rate for that car?" sez I.
"Maybe," sez Mr. Avis. "You a AAA member?"
"Nope."
"Well, let me try something else," sez he. "Yep, the Sam's Club rate will give us the price you want."
"Thanks!" sez I.
And I've used this code since then (about 2004).

That's Orlando @ Christmas time. It'd be a miracle to find a cheap code for that time at Avis :(. I tried D005297 which still came out to 519.99 for an intermediate. Here's some advice try another rental company like National. I looked it up & the price for a midsize is 378.00 + tax with the Emerald Club code 5007125. I can't find a coupon yet. All the ones I have will expire prior to that date but I'm sure they'll post more by then.

I use my L093590 in Montreal, and it does good. For some reason it's Montreal is difficult for discounts. Not as bad as NYC, but not good at all in my opinion.

I am a European renter and I wonder if some one happens to know a code for LAX. So far I have a rate of USD 510( £ 249 ) for a standard for 10 days including all insurance and miles. I used code o ( oscar)855710 and used the Avis uk site.
I really appreciate any help. Thanks

Is anyone aware of any good coupons that work for a New Zealand rental? I'm looking for a Friday-Monday (weekend) rental, and any coupons would be greatly appreciated :) My corporate AWD number has actually gotten me the best base rate of all that I've tried, but I'm hoping a coupon might help bring the overall cost down a bit.

Mrp Alert Oct 29, 2007 12:06 am

The Avis Virgin Atlantic Rate of Z333300 gave a decent daily rate at local Avis locations in Las Vegas.

It might be rocking for you but it does not work for me as Avis site says invalid AWD. They are usually one letter and six digits.
Keep rollin'

Worked for me.... Don't know who or what it belongs to, but I got a 2 day weekend rate of $34 (total)for an intemediate at YUL.
