NOTE: This thread has been superseded by the thread entitled LM F and J routes (and the occasional trick-it) Rebooted v2.0. Please follow the discussion there.

Region definitions
C1 North America
C1.5 Caribbean, Bermuda
C2 Europe
C2.5 Middle East
C3 Asia
C4 South America
C5 Africa
C6 Oceania

2X, 3X: in the context of this LifeMiles thread, 2X and 3X refer to any 2nd and 3rd legs of a one-way award ticket.

LifeMiles' Star Alliance Award Chart

Cash & Miles redemptions: buying the max (60%) isn't always the best deal (unless you're purchasing all miles right there). Check here for the best CPM.

Beware of Cabotage: LifeMiles has been known to issue tickets that constitute Cabotage, and at least one instance of denied boarding has been reported, stranding the passenger. An easily-seen example is travel on Copa from LAX to SJU (via PTY).

Plus the fact that LH is removing F from a number of routes from this summer on, this should also impact available space.

i don't think anyone has been able to get either of those in f for less than published award chart, but i definitely could be wrong.

LH is aiming to reduce the number of seats in the J cabin in certain routes.

For the javascript masters, does anybody know how to search LH flight leaving from HND by tweaking the scripts?

Search engine doesn't recognize HND as a valid LH city and I need to force LH as the airline. Now that they fly direct to Frankfurt from HND, I prefer that flight over the NRT flight that now stops in KIX.

Select STAR ALLIANCE from drop menu. FRA > HND will populate with LH flights.

If you need to only fly into HND from FRA there is a trick that lowers the mileage required but its only avail. in J on LH

If just need lower the mileage, there's also in F on LH.
Sample date tomorrow.
Start from FRA, and no problem to check bags.

I actually need ex-HND to C2 in F for less miles and that's why I have to force LH as carrier

Still trying to trick the auto-validation city script within booking page, but if anybody has any better way, let me know.

use a proxy (e.g. Burpsuite) or a Firefox extension (e.g. Tamper data) to edit the post parameters.
Or set everything up with *A, then change to Lufthansa and quickly click search. If you do that faster than the AJAX load, you're good

The root cause of the current issue is certainly different. But my point was that with these imminent changes, going forward LH F availability will be a lot smaller anyways, not only for LM

What is for you near future?

In 6 months all A343 will be without first class - so all routes where they are used will be without first.

(in 8 of the 17 planes the first class already been removed - so even if you booked it you have only a 50% chance of really getting one)

Going back to our Visa discussion that we had a few pages back.

I was thinking about this:
1. Let's say I fly C2 (MUC, VIE, ...) - C3 (ICN, TYO,BKK, ...) - XYZ
2. I don't need a visa for the C3 country but would need one for XYZ
3. But I also decide that I'm not going to check any bags

In this case, I could just check-in online, go to the plane and that's it?

Or would the C2-C3 (e.g. MUC-ICN) flight have any special checks?
