NOTE: This thread has been superseded by the thread entitled LM F and J routes (and the occasional trick-it) Rebooted v2.0. Please follow the discussion there.

Region definitions
C1 North America
C1.5 Caribbean, Bermuda
C2 Europe
C2.5 Middle East
C3 Asia
C4 South America
C5 Africa
C6 Oceania

2X, 3X: in the context of this LifeMiles thread, 2X and 3X refer to any 2nd and 3rd legs of a one-way award ticket.

LifeMiles' Star Alliance Award Chart

Cash & Miles redemptions: buying the max (60%) isn't always the best deal (unless you're purchasing all miles right there). Check here for the best CPM.

Beware of Cabotage: LifeMiles has been known to issue tickets that constitute Cabotage, and at least one instance of denied boarding has been reported, stranding the passenger. An easily-seen example is travel on Copa from LAX to SJU (via PTY).

LH routes work. On some there's availability, on others there isn't.

It will show availability in KVS, and none in Lifemiles, unfortunately. The problem is definitely on LM's side, but that's why KVS can't help us with that.
I went ahead and bought a 2 month subscription and it seems that you were right... KVS is nice but randomly useful for LM.

In KVS LH MEX-FRA in J August 31st shows no availability but you can get 2 seats in LifeMiles...

I can confirm this for a C2-C1 route with 1 leg on UA...

What do you propose?

Once we have a few people corroborating this, we can individually mail/call them.
As someone wrote before: if this reaches critical mass, maybe(!?) they will correct it...

1. Flights where all legs are served by UA show no availability whatsoever, independently of whether UA is forced or StarAlliance is selected (this includes direct flights by UA, of course)
2. Flights that have no leg served by UA are easy to find and book - no problem, no matter how far I tweak the input ;-)
3. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY: Flights where one or more of the legs are served by UA (but not all), display, i.e. also show UA availability, even if those legs wouldn't have avaliability as a direct flight), but err out when I click on continue.

And of course, this could be the reason why chainsaw and gummybear seem gone.
By saying ok, I mean I'm able to go to step 3 (Your Itinerary) without error.
1. If UA F is available, ok. Otherwise, some routes even I see J shows it will error out going to step 3.
2. I was going to say NO since I couldn't book simple route like JFK-ICN on OZ. To my surprise, I just tried and it works now. Still, route like JFK-ICN-HKG I don't see the same availability as UA website. Much, much less availability from LM. Phantom from UA? I don't know. But in general, statement #2 seems to be true.
3. Again, if UA F is available, ok. Otherwise, even Y/J show availability it will error out.

I'm just worry by trying to fix it, they'll make it even worse.

Even for the screenshot you shared... LM shows availability on September 1st, KVS shows 0.

Or check MEX-MUC on 31st (KVS=0; LM=2)

Don't want to spam this thread further with the KVS tool, so feel free to PM if you need more data

@KVS: I appreciate the effort but I've now tested quite a few different routes (especially the ones that are of interest for this thread ) and see many differences between KVS/LM...

FWIW, in my experience of ... investigating LM's results, depending on how you search, your search results will differ. did you have breakfast? Did you not? Does your LM number start with an odd number? Is your LM account old or new? Pretty much all of the above give different results. Also the phase of the moon. It's a complete clusterf*k trying to parse their search results. So I doubt either KVS or anyone else will ever fully match LM.com simply because from time to time their own search results don't match each other...
