So I ended up applying online today. After a fairly long wait, I got to a page where it said no decision could be made at the time, and I would receive more information in the mail in 14 days. I was worried I was denied, so I called the reconsideration line. They just needed to verify my address, apparently the format was odd, they said (not an uncommon occurrence in Queens, where I live). After a hold of about a minute, I was approved over the phone, and Amex is sending the card to me via UPS!

Will I get bonus under lifetime rule???

I had an Amex Gold many years ago. From my e-mail archive it was a American Express(R) Rewards Plus Gold . It looks like I cancelled it in 2009 or 2010 as my last e-mail about it is from January 2010 saying my 2009 annual summary is available.

Is this a "different enough" product from today's Premier Rewards Gold Card to qualify for the bonus?

Thumbs up I got approved!

Hi, I'm a newbie! I really wanted Amex EDP among all Amex because of grocery points. But, EDP only has 15,000 bonus offer these days. I googled a lot to reach this forum. I then almost got regular ED with 25,000 bonus with $2,000 spend found in this forum. But, with same amount of spending, I figured that I can get EDP and this Gold from the great link and get more bonus points. (15k + 50k). I was also so happy that I got approved for this Gold charge card with no minimum! I will be so happy about still 2x points of Gold card after I max out $6,000 in grocery. I cook a lot and like to shop at Whole Foods and I have 3 kids. I'm free from shopping for nice credit cards now. Well, I'm eyeing on Citi Premier maybe next year.

Thank you for the best link!!

100,000 MR for $1,300 is a rip.

I've seen offers from points brokers for $1,400 or 1.4c per point.

I once got 1.5c for my Alaska miles so I would never sell MR for less than that.

There is no mechanism for transferring Membership Rewards (USA) points to another Membership Rewards account. There is no longer any mechanism for transferring MR points to another person's frequent flyer account unless you request a supplementary card in that person's name.

This means that if you "sell" Membership Rewards points you will almost certainly be asked to transfer the points to your own frequent flyer account, and redeem miles for an award ticket in the name of a stranger. This will violate the frequent flyer program's terms, and there will be an unambiguous audit trail. Proceed with your eyes wide open.

Pulled the trigger last night. I got the 50K offer on the second incognito window load. Was instantly approved, then went for a targeted 50K offer on the Delta Gold card in hopes for a combining of the hard pulls. Also instantly approved.

Does anyone know if the 3x airline bonus miles count for taxes and fees associated with an award booking on BA?

Applied and approved and am waiting for UPS but need to go out of town last minute. Any chance they can just send this card snail mail and cancel ups will amex allow that?

Also I read upthread you can somehow get your card numbers like a virtual card, how does one go about doing that?

I would create a MyUPS account and change the delivery date on the package -or- have UPS hold it at a UPS store for later pickup. You have to have the tracking number for the package in order to do this, but with a MyUPS account, you can see all packages on their way to your address.

Update: I spent the $1,000 and can confirm that I received the 50,000 bonus points. A nice additional bonus is that I can still get $100 in credits at a designated airline. I plan to use it on an international flight coming up next month (Delta). Great bonuses for no fee during the first year !
