Reminder: you must enroll and select Southwest as your airline BEFORE making a reimbursable purchase.
Some have suggested the need to wait several hours or even a day before making the purchase, but there are also several DPs that worked without waiting that long.
(BTW, you will often hear people refer to Southwest as WN. WN is the IATA code for Southwest Airlines. SW is the IATA code for Air Namibia.)
Caution: As of late July 2019, reports are that direct gift card purchases are no longer being reimbursed.
To purchase click here: https://www.southwest.com/gift-card/create-card.html Caution: Do NOT login to your Southwest Rapid Rewards account when making the purchase.
What does appear to work is buying flight tickets less than $100, OR using gift cards to get the charged amount down to less than $100.
Always read the last few pages to get up-to-date DPs.

The process is exactly the same for Aspire, Platinum and Gold. Only the amount of the reimbursement benefit differs.

9/12: Purchased one $87 one-way ticket, and another $117 (minus $100 GC, so $17) on AMEX plat. Had $100/$200 left on my benefits meter.
No meter/credit activity yet, but I will keep y'all posted.

Good to be here!
And yes that's correct: No partial pay of any kind.
I just bought the 2 tickets in separate transactions at their full prices with my Amex Plat. I was initially concerned because it shows the all flight details in the AmEx activities page, but the next day after I noticed that I got the full reimbursement for both tickets.

keep us posted. based on all the previous successful DPs here, there should be no problem for you. look for an amex update on 9/14 or 9/15 in the afternoon EST zone. seems like credits are posting very quickly for some people.

I purchased two $88 one-way tickets on two separate transactions on 9/9. I used 2 $50 GC on each transaction so 2 $38 charges on my Amex plat. No credits posted as of today, 9/14.

No benefits meter move either? I've got nothing but I'm expecting to see a credit or meter movement tomorrow.

Benefits meter moved, now it says I have used my yearly credit. This means both of my transactions ($87 one-way fare, $17 charge after $100 GC on $117 fare) qualified, as I had $100 remaining.

First off, it's usually "up to 2 weeks" for credits to post. But unfortunately, if you used it on a ticket or partial ticket, you will have no recourse if you call to request the credit. It would be more likely, if you called, that the system would be flagged to correct it system wide.

Any data point of reimbursement for ticket/partial ticket of less than $50?

There are FT posts from cardholders, months ago, who called AmEx wanting to know why their GC purchases didn't get credited yet.

2) call amex for the credit when its against the T&C? and say what? why your airfare tickets did not get reimbursed like the CSR? i suggest calling TPG for advice. and you do know amex is a travel agency and can see in extreme detail of your airline purchase right? anyway, given your lack of posts, i assume you got the credit already.
3) read more reddit sidebar
