It happens every once in a while. enviroian I was on your flight I believe. #7 on the list. DFW gets 40+ lists once or twice a week I'd say, CLT about the same. MIA and PHX rarely

Long lists are common in PHX now but I assume that that's due to every elite being on the list now that they did away with 500 mile upgrades. It's doesn't really matter (whether there are 10 or 30 or 50 people below me on the list is irrelevant). The rare part is there being that many people ahead of you as an EXP.

FWIW, since they are the 2 airports you mentioned, my perfect upgrade record on PHX-MIA was just broken a few hours ago. But I was #2 (out of 30-40).

I was in 17E. I was amazed at all the Wolverine fans coming in to watch a game. I've never seen a plane full of green and white unfortunately. lol

I was not on this flight, but I saw this absolute behemoth of a list on the 8:30am on Monday, 11/6, from DFW-PHX on a 787-9.

Pretty much getting for me (EXP around 250K LP 12 month rolling) that if I don't either buy F or pay for the upgrade at best I end up number one on the list and have to hope for a no show or it just doesn't happen. Last week BOS/JFK E175 number one, no dice.

#12/44 for 1 seat PHX - PHL today (11/8). Needless to say, no upgrade. I DID get an upgrade today going back on Friday using my last expiring SWU - in time to select a meal. :)

What would be my chances as EXP (low rolling LP; maybe 120k) flying HNL-PHX redeye on a 788 Fri night - Sat morning in early-mid December?

If I don't get the lie-flat can I request PE as EXP or is that only for international flights? I've actually never flown an AA widebody domestically (PHX does not have that many)

EDIT: I figure that I have a lot going for me, even if it's usually a tough upgrade. The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas is kind of a dead time for leisure travel, plus who comes back from Hawaii on a Friday night?

IAH to PHX, just upgraded at the window for my Saturday afternoon flight as a Platinum. I'm doing well on upgrades this year.

Flew PHL-LAS on 10/29 and LAS-PHX-PHL on 11/8. Both award tix. Low LP EXP.

Westbound, around #12 on the list.
Eastbound, around #6 on the LAS-PHX leg, but was upgraded at T-100 for PHX-PHL. Afternoon departures both ways (no red-eyes).
