Hell of a flight to clear, has to be probably their longest flight in the lower 48.

It's a 6:47-long flight, same at JFK-LHR! Of all the flights to clear, this one has the biggest ROI for sure

Today #2 out of 23 for 0 seats tpa-dca

Just a slap on the face to sit here at 2 days from ORD-MIA flight with J8 C4 and no EXP upgrades handed out, and app offer is now $136 which is so cheap, some will probably take it today. For comparison, the app offer is what 500-mile upgrade coupons used to cost to be waitlisted on this route ($120 for 3) just a few years ago.

Sad panda.

[UPDATE: Now almost at check-in window with J6 C5, upgrades unlikely to have been handed out yet as good MCE seats are available and more did not open up. App offer is still up. Lame.]

[UPDATE2: #1 out of 17. No seats left, no one seems to have cleared. At 300k LP I expect more. I’m def not doing this next year.]

Number 2 yesterday (EXP with about 250K LP 12 month trailing) on a morning A319 CLT/ATL flight. No one cleared but of course a very short flight and I got a row i Y to myself. Last night ATL/MIA (paid F) 2 upgraders downgraded out of aisle seats in row 1 (I was 1F) as the FA jump seat was broken and they needed those 2 seats for take off and landing. The other night RDU/CLT 10 passengers onboard an A321, 3 in Y. Given a bunch of snacks to go.

DCA-ATL last flight this Saturday cleared at T-72 as I expected. PPRO/~100k rolling LPs.

Lets go Commanders!

I notice 1D is consistently blocked on EF on transpacific flights on the 787. Do they release that at the gate or is it a crew rest. I'm flying back from ICN to DFW at the end of the month.

This week - 4 for 4:
  • DEN-CLT, A321, Wednesday, ~8am: cleared at 26 hours
  • CLT-DCA, A319, Wednesday, ~130pm: cleared at 26 hours
  • DCA-PHL, CR9, Friday, ~445pm: cleared at around 20 hours
  • PHL-DEN, A321, Friday, ~630pm: cleared at around 20 hours.
Maybe 275 rolling LP? Don't really know, will hit 200K for this program year enroute on this PHL-DEN (once it finally departs, as it is of course delayed)

Tl,dr, significant value (in this case easily $1k+ per SWU) still possible with slight flexibility

Due to some weird life situations, I have my 4 SWUs from 2022 which expire end of March 2024, but I won't be able to fly until late March. I don't care WHERE, I go, I just want to have them not go to waste. Any tips on looking for these 3-5 months out for April/May like you did? Or is it basically just check every intl route every day until you find ones with availability?

There is tons of C space out there now (relatively speaking) this fall, winter, and early spring. The very first random date I checked in April (10th) there is C space showing on JFK-LHR, for example. Get an EF subscription and start checking.

Yeah I've had EF for a decade heh. I know I've seen LHR, but wasn't sure if there was an easy way to search for the dozens of other destinations.

Now the debate if I should just lock up a mid-April LHR or wait to see. Decisions decisions.

The only tip I would add is using the “search +-3 days” drop-down option on EF—you still have to search every destination for every week, but it saves a few steps
