Last night, Wednesday< CLT/MIA last flight of the night (too late for SA connections). Number five on a rolling off the board list (EXP around YTD 250K LP). Think one person cleared. I'm finding more and more it's just easier to take the decent Upgrade offers (usually $200 or less) and be done with it.

Fingers crossed for LAX-SYD Oct 1 SWU upgrade. Looks like a decent amount of availability?

Do you need to have a SWU that was not cleared, to be eligible to upgrade to PE for TATL flights?
Here is the relevant thread with lots of discussion: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/amer...ispreloading=1 |

HND-DFW, 788, Saturday, 745pm: Y-->J SWU cleared off the waitlist at 36 hours prior to departure
(flight is tomorrow, so not flown yet, but this is the third HND to US SWU I've cleared this year :tu:) No clue what my rolling LPs are, not worth the effort to track that, but probably around 250K? |
So I have a pretty great offer to buy up to F and wanted to run it by you all to see what you think I feel like its a no brainer. Tbh if it was just me travelling I would have already bought it but I have a +1 joining so double the cost but still considering it.
I got a buy up from MC to F for $242 more on MIA-LAX and its on the 7pm departure which is the 772 so FL access not to mention the two best words in flying- LIE FLATS... However with 22 open seats still (although it is 3 weeks out) I was thinking of maybe waiting. The MC cost I paid was $139 so essentially for $381 I would be getting the 772 for a FL route. Seems really good. If it was F on the 77W with FFD now that would be insane good but I still think its a solid deal. Curious if you all would just take it or hold out? My chances on that plane with 22 open obviously are better than on the A321 flights on the same day where the max open on any flight is 13. |

Have another DFW-HND flight on Monday with my wife. EF is showing 13 out of 20 J seats are stil unoccupied. While I am confident our upgrades will eventually clear, it befuddles me with so many empty seats in J as to why doesn't AA release some C class now with just a few days left before the flight. |
9/14: ORD/LHR SWU did not clear, EXP with maybe 300k LP, were number 3 and 4 on the list of about 10 people, no one cleared
flight was sold out in J weeks before occasionally J1 or J2 in the days before Also, the seat map showed about 10 open seats until the day before so confirms what we all know that seat maps mean nothing. I was hoping W was oversold which might mean there would be a few J seats for upgrades, but was not the case. I also learned that in-ap upgrade offers do not come to you if you have a SWU requested. I think in the future, I skip requesting a SWU, watch for C space, and keep an eye on the in-ap upgrade offers. Have heard some of these from W-->J have been as low as $350. I'd take that anyday. |

It's a "feature" of the app. Possibly a "shhhh" situation. But once confirmed in R, it will look for R space on other routings, which seems to pull from J in IRROPs.

I have a LAX-LHR basic economy ticket. I have AA Platinum Pro. I requested miles upgrade a while ago and waitlisted. Now is between 24-48 departure time and I just found I am able to change/select the seat of business class and I did select a seat.
At this moment, is this seat confirmed? Do I still need to pay 25,000 miles+$350 copy? Or this is the free upgrade? Thanks in advance. |
