Speculation: Will AA continue to pull back in NYC?

I was at JFK a couple of days ago and got a real chuckle. I don't know if it was an AA employee van or some other AA van, but it was all branded on the outside and said something like from NYC you can go anywhere in the world. I'm forgetting the actual wording but that was the gist......I guess they must mean if you want to not fly on AA proper.

The reliability of AA's 767 JFK-ZRH-JFK was derisory. It became a running joke for us based in ZRH that taking AA would likely result in a 5 hour delay, and it frequently did.

JFK to DEN dropped. Not surprising as yields seemed very low, and F often went out with empty seats. Still amazing though that AA wont offer non-stop service to DEN from one or their hubs. I wonder if they add it out of LGA instead...

I loved that JFK-DEN flight, and have taken it numerous times, but upgraded at 100 hours every time flew solo, never missed a companion upgrade when traveling with someone, and usually had at least 3-4 first class seats empty ... in other words, polar opposite of every other 3+ hour flight out of JFK or LGA in recent years.

AA cuts DUB and EDI from JFK (also cut PAP). Cut Denver a few weeks ago. Added another DFW frequency. It looks like JFK customers will be asked to connect to PHL, CLT and DFW to do a lot of basic domestic and international flying.
Honestly it doesnt seem like any TATL route is safe. Kind of amazing as its not like the other airlines/alliances are doing a great job to Europe (I guess with the possible exception of United). I just had a decidedly mediocre Air France trip to
Paris, AA can and likely does better with a better lounge and equivalent onboard product.

I've now read twice from credible sources that AA will be experimenting with routes from JFK moving forward........hmmmmmmm. If they can't make ZRH/EDI/DUB work, how will new random routes ex-JFK do any better?

I am guessing they re-focus their targets on proven leisure destinations (CDG, MXP for instance) instead of business travelers, but ignore the fact that business travelers travel for leisure as well...

That goes against what was mentioned in the video accompanying today's press release. JFK was briefly mentioned and AA's goal is to focus on business markets from JFK.
