Just left the FL "bridge"......lots of comments:
- when checking in at FL, the agent said nothing about it.....I was asked if the FL "Terrace" was still open and got a "what?" and I had to gesture over there. He said oh the "bridge?", yea you can go over there and just wrote a big FL in blue on my boarding pass. There was no attendant so I moved the roped off barrier myself to get inside where there was a server just standing around (and only two people at a table). Once inside it was very nice......had lots of bubbles, the burger was great and the bartender convinced me to try the caesar salad too which was not the best. the salad barely had any dressing and the chicken was dry and cold.
You also use the regular AC bathroom if you need to go......had not seen the updated AC......IT IS SMALL! It looked really empty because most people with the coughing kids are now with me in the regular FL.
I talked to the bartender at the FL Bridge and asked if it's always this empty and he said yes.....I told him they do a terrible job of letting customers know it's available......he said some do and some don't.
One annoying thing was that a worker named "Gabriel" was using the FL bridge as his own personal office. It didn't look like he worked for AA, but maybe the company that manages the staff in the FL lounges. He made countless calls to his staff seeing if they wanted to pick up a new shift......2pm - 10pm with Sat/Sun off (I heard it so many times I could be calling his staff begging them to fill this shift). Really classy Gabriel.....every call I heard turned him down.
Fraser - did I overlap with you?

I arrived about 2.15pm and left about 4.45pm. No sign of Gabriel but all was very quiet, most of the time we were the only ones in there. I had the mushroom flatbread for a change, pretty meh, I think I'll stick to the Flagship Burger for next week.
Eric did a top notch job taking care of us. He even offered to go over to the AC to fetch some guacamole for my wife and kept us plenty topped up with drinks during our visit. The wife was also a big fan of the hot dog station!
Personally I'm happy the front desk don't tell people about the Bridge!
The only downside was the Bollinger has been traded in for Taittinger. I definitely prefer the former!

For those of us with Priority Pass the Flagship Lounge catering just got an improvement. Per OMAAT the Bobby Vans just across from the FL entrance has just joined Priority Pass, show your card and get a $28 credit towards F&B. I'm flying through on Friday and the wife and I each have PP so we'll stock up and head to the FL for drinks
I assume like most airport restaurants in the concourse you can get the food to go.

QF Moving to JFK T8- More Pax for Flagship Lounge
From our friends at Australian Business Traveller-
https://www.ausbt.com.au/qantas-move...unges-and-more
"Passengers aboard Qantas’ New York flights will soon arrive into and depart from Terminal 8 at JFK Airport: home to American Airlines, Qantas’ key Oneworld alliance partner in North America.
Qantas currently uses JFK’s Terminal 7, but will move across to T8 from April 3 2018, giving eligible passengers access to new lounges, and making for easier connections between Qantas and AA.
On the lounge front, all Qantas business class passengers will enjoy access to the newly-refurbished American Airlines Flagship Lounge in T8: a significant step above the British Airways Galleries Lounge these travellers currently have access to in Terminal 7."

I hope you had a better experience than me but personally thought the Bobby Van's experience was a bit of a waste of time given the food options in the FL. The hostess seemed aware of the Priority Pass situation but the waitresses seemed to have very different opinions. The one handling us seemed to think that we were only entitled to $27 worth of food despite the fact that we both had Priority Pass memberships, she then came back over a few minutes after ordering and said her manager would only allow $27 of credit on the one order and that if we wanted what we did then we'd need to have it split across two orders. We then got a load of attitude with some sighing when I said it was fine to do that. Just after she walked off one of the roving waiters came over and said we could $108 if we wanted because we could each technically guest one person at $27 each, that also seemed wrong My wife went up to the FL to get settled and then, after standing around awkwardly for about 10mins, was told the food would be about 10-15mins so I came back later to collect it. Maybe just kinks to work out, and if I try it again I'll probably just order, go to the FL and come back. Certainly not life changing!

I didn't experience any problems at the FL, though the people in the Bridge section do know my wife and I quite well now, haha!
