The chicken breast was dry, as expected, but still tasty. The saffron rice and lemon meringue were very good. Still better than what most other airlines are serving these days. No cookies were offered on the flight.

I thought the cod was...fine? To me it seemed mildly flavored and the cod was cooked well and not dry. Overall, it tasted like a lighter/healthier meal. Also, mine definitely looked less black than the one in gold10829's post. Our F/A also wrote different quotes for each of our meals which I thought was interesting.

No plated dessert meant the cookies came out, which ended up being southern toffee with nuts (maybe pecans?), and as expected, delicious.

It was pretty decent tho unremarkable and came with a lemon meringue tart. Service was very good and professional with a pass of the snack basket around an hour out of DCA.

This was my first transcon since COVID, but things mostly seemed normal except the coffee was in paper cups. My wife and I pre-ordered the kale bowl, which we both thought was pretty tasty. My neighbor had the onion frittata, I passed on that as I hate onions but it also looked pretty good. My son pre-ordered the fruit and cheese plate, which came with yogurt. There was one pass of the snack basket about an hour before landing; I selected the pea-toes based on reviews here and was not let down. We landed around an hour early due to favorable winds, all in all a very smooth flight although JFK Terminal 1 is pretty sad these days.

I was hesitant but tried the Bahn-mi. It was OK. The pickled slaw and Sriracha really made the sandwich. The bread was a bit too thick and some small bits were very soggy. Also, the banhmi had this sauce (Sriracha mayo???) that didn't really belong in a banhmi, imo. Overall though, it was fine. I woke up hungover that day so the carby bread was really appreciated. 😂

This was MUCH tastier than it looked - I really enjoyed it! Excellent service from the flight attendant in First, who gave me a warm welcome as a oneworld frequent flyer.

LAX-CUN
Lunch:
Entrée Salad with egg. (Other option was Beef Sandwich)
This was ok - the cauliflower was marinated in curry, which overwhelmed the flavor of the dish.

Both meals were delicious. The breakfast was very filling, as was the dinner. I know it has been mentioned before, but I can't get over the fact that it's a real filet! I would pay $35 in a restaurant and be happy. It's also great to see that even the disposable napkins retain the button hole.

AS714 SEA-EWR 10am departure - Lunch... Inflight right now =)

Pre-ordered the Korean BBQ Rib and WOW. I think it's going to be a crowd pleaser. It extremely tender and so flavorful. I guess it's pretty tough to mess up a cut of short rib due to the high fat content. But whatever I'd get this again. Not gonna lie, I think this is the best all-around meal I've had on AS And it ranks up there on meals I've had in a plane =) dessert was a chocolate tart topped with a very light marshmallow fluff and coconut flaked. It was great as well.

FA recognized my friend and I from our MR last weekend. Pretty attentive and nice. =)

Dinner on AS 771 from DCA-PDX (11/13/21)

The Miso Pork Chops have to be one of the best entrees I've had on a plane in years.....the bacon/onion mix really made this a winner. The only thing I can think of that would have made this meal better would be a different side....like garlic mashed potatoes or maybe rice pilaf. I'm not a fan of any lemon flavored dessert and dreaded getting stuck with the lemon tart that seems to be frequently served but to my pleasant surprise I got cheesecake instead which was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G....dare I say, better than a warm chocolate chip cookie?? Hopefully the cheesecake sticks around for awhile. I was glad to see the return of the warm nuts, but someone went WAY overboard on the salt and ratio of almonds to everything else (like cashews).

Another vote for the short rib. I had it last night and it was fantastic. Much better than the beef that seemed to be a previous staple. The filet could be good but sometimes I'd just get a big ball of gristle. The short rib is nice in that it stays very tender even when being cooked thoroughly. That was another problem with the filet - it just turned to leather when cooked to well done (but I understand they have to cook it well to please the people that don't know how to enjoy steak )

My only critique of the AS food would be to PLEASE offer more veggies and less carbs. A big roll, a pile of rice, some sweet potatoes and a "salad" that was mostly grainy something or other is far from balanced.

November catering

Just made MVP for the first time based on Alaska's impressive service. Bigger things in life, but was disappointed for catering for SFO/SEA this last weekend. On 11/13, there were fog related delays, ok, but F meals came in pandemic plastics boxes. No nuts, no cookies. FA, who gave great service, said she was writing a report. I thought maybe a bump, but on return 11/16, no fog, no delays, no nuts, no cookies, small portioned Protein Platter. FA served everything at once unlike on other Bay Area_SEA legs that I've done. Wasn't consistent with the service I had in late July when they abandoned the plastic boxes.

AS480 SFO-SEA on 11/14 (8:55pm departure). Beet salad served. Protein platter was an option. I assume because it was a late evening flight (after 8pm) the service might has been different. At first I thought they wouldn’t serve meals at all that late, so was good surprise.
No cookie or snack basket, but for a flight that late, seems okay.

#3480 FAT-SEA 8am sked depart.

Plane swap and equipment issues. Left 55 minutes late, and were told our meals were still on the original plane, which would be headed on the short jump to
LAX, while we had their snack basket. KIND bar, popcorn, and some kind of granola bar. No meal at all.

not sure if it’s the exact same dish or not, but I had the Hawaiian sweet bread strata a couple years ago to OGG and it was very good. The clementine chicken from the previous menu cycle was also a reappearance of a dish served a couple years ago.

I would need to go back and check AS Flyer's most recent catering update but I thought hot meals have returned to the PDX-LA area flights so perhaps the breakfast sandwich is warm now? The word "wrap" makes me nervous since I'd be afraid of getting the now infamous egg salad wrap. I do find it odd that everything listed for First Class is "pre-order" only....what do you get if you don't pre-order? Nothing?
