The chicken breast was dry, as expected, but still tasty. The saffron rice and lemon meringue were very good. Still better than what most other airlines are serving these days. No cookies were offered on the flight.

I thought the cod was...fine? To me it seemed mildly flavored and the cod was cooked well and not dry. Overall, it tasted like a lighter/healthier meal. Also, mine definitely looked less black than the one in gold10829's post. Our F/A also wrote different quotes for each of our meals which I thought was interesting.

No plated dessert meant the cookies came out, which ended up being southern toffee with nuts (maybe pecans?), and as expected, delicious.

It was pretty decent tho unremarkable and came with a lemon meringue tart. Service was very good and professional with a pass of the snack basket around an hour out of DCA.

This was my first transcon since COVID, but things mostly seemed normal except the coffee was in paper cups. My wife and I pre-ordered the kale bowl, which we both thought was pretty tasty. My neighbor had the onion frittata, I passed on that as I hate onions but it also looked pretty good. My son pre-ordered the fruit and cheese plate, which came with yogurt. There was one pass of the snack basket about an hour before landing; I selected the pea-toes based on reviews here and was not let down. We landed around an hour early due to favorable winds, all in all a very smooth flight although JFK Terminal 1 is pretty sad these days.

I was hesitant but tried the Bahn-mi. It was OK. The pickled slaw and Sriracha really made the sandwich. The bread was a bit too thick and some small bits were very soggy. Also, the banhmi had this sauce (Sriracha mayo???) that didn't really belong in a banhmi, imo. Overall though, it was fine. I woke up hungover that day so the carby bread was really appreciated. 😂

This was MUCH tastier than it looked - I really enjoyed it! Excellent service from the flight attendant in First, who gave me a warm welcome as a oneworld frequent flyer.

LAX-CUN
Lunch:
Entrée Salad with egg. (Other option was Beef Sandwich)
This was ok - the cauliflower was marinated in curry, which overwhelmed the flavor of the dish.

Both meals were delicious. The breakfast was very filling, as was the dinner. I know it has been mentioned before, but I can't get over the fact that it's a real filet! I would pay $35 in a restaurant and be happy. It's also great to see that even the disposable napkins retain the button hole.

LAX-SEA
8am departure

11/26 LAX-SEA Cold egg and bacon breakfast sandwich followed by a few rounds of the snack basket. The sandwich was tasty but it would be nice if they could include a warm option like a hot sandwich on these longer west coast flights.

Nov, 20,2021 SJD-PDX Chicken Breast meal. Skin on kept It moist. Great moist brownie. Glassware: red wine from a 750 ml bottle. Warm nuts in porcelain ramekin. Had Tito's Vodka and tonic with powdered lime.. Tonic not listed in FC beverage menu. Brandon provided best service for drinks, meal and snack basket. He and other crew were PDX based. PDX catering in both legs somehow survived as very good for return North.

The dressing brought the whole dish together and made it absolutely delicious! As I've said before, it's a huge upgrade over just the snack basket. Especially since that's still offered too.
I had the faux Pho this evening on SEA-ONT (AS924), 8:30pm departure and agree that it was excellent. I was surprised by how good the beef was, and was suspicious that it was going to be a mayo based dressing until I tried it. The noodles were a little crunchier than I was expecting, but still pretty good - I was expecting softer rice vermicelli like you get with vietnamese rice vermicelli salads.

Cookie was delivered hot on the tray with the meal - I'm saving it for morning and haven't opened it yet to find out which kind.

Snack basket also came by.

In non-F news, my earlier PDX-SEA on a Q400 had beverage service with choice of water, OJ, beer, or wine.

AS 117 last Friday from SEA-PDX in F had no beverage service at all other than the usual at-seat water.....still think it's odd that there is beverage service on the Q400 flights but nothing in F on mainline although mainline has a far better beverage selection on the longer flights that do serve beverages. On another note--was the cookie worth saving (ie, chocolate chip)?

Amusingly, when I booked the flight it was on an E75, so on the original aircraft I wouldn't have gotten anything but a water and a chocolate (The FA did bring around a bag of chocolates for the MVPGs - I still always expect the pink wrapper to be salmon flavored), but at some point they swapped it to a Q400 and I didn't bother rebooking that segment to an E75 since it's so short it doesn't really matter.

I had the cookie this morning for breakfast: butter pecan, which I don't mind. There were also no chocolate chip cookies in either lounge (PDX or SEA-N). PDX had tiny brownies, and SEA had white chocolate chip (maybe with macadamia nuts?), but I had so much pie this past weekend that I didn't need a cookie for the air anyway.

I actually saw something the other day that 220 miles is the cut-off for any beverage service on AS mainline so AS Flyer is probably correct in the sense that short flights like SEA-GEG or BOI are getting at least water in Y and full beverage service in F, but PDX-SEA is just too short even with the updated catering guidelines.

Speaking of the PDX lounge, even though I was flying out of D8 (on the oddball AS flight that leaves from the D concourse), I went through security twice so I could stop by the PDX lounge for one of those delicious danishes they've been serving for awhile now....to my surprise and disappointment, they have been replaced with muffins....first the chocolate chip cookies and now the danishes.....sad

I got a battlefield upgrade on the early morning SAN-FLL 2 days ago, so best description I got from the FA was "Quiche" or "the vegetarian option".
The quiche was delicious, prolly calorie ridden, but I enjoyed every bite. And this comes from someone who is still iffy about egg dishes on airplanes after getting food poisoning 6 years ago on a delta flight

Dream on. It looks like the "sweet apple potato pancake" that comes with the Toasted Everything Bagel Strata. Although I still can't figure out what happened to the bagel in that dish.🤪
