The chicken breast was dry, as expected, but still tasty. The saffron rice and lemon meringue were very good. Still better than what most other airlines are serving these days. No cookies were offered on the flight.

I thought the cod was...fine? To me it seemed mildly flavored and the cod was cooked well and not dry. Overall, it tasted like a lighter/healthier meal. Also, mine definitely looked less black than the one in gold10829's post. Our F/A also wrote different quotes for each of our meals which I thought was interesting.

No plated dessert meant the cookies came out, which ended up being southern toffee with nuts (maybe pecans?), and as expected, delicious.

It was pretty decent tho unremarkable and came with a lemon meringue tart. Service was very good and professional with a pass of the snack basket around an hour out of DCA.

This was my first transcon since COVID, but things mostly seemed normal except the coffee was in paper cups. My wife and I pre-ordered the kale bowl, which we both thought was pretty tasty. My neighbor had the onion frittata, I passed on that as I hate onions but it also looked pretty good. My son pre-ordered the fruit and cheese plate, which came with yogurt. There was one pass of the snack basket about an hour before landing; I selected the pea-toes based on reviews here and was not let down. We landed around an hour early due to favorable winds, all in all a very smooth flight although JFK Terminal 1 is pretty sad these days.

I was hesitant but tried the Bahn-mi. It was OK. The pickled slaw and Sriracha really made the sandwich. The bread was a bit too thick and some small bits were very soggy. Also, the banhmi had this sauce (Sriracha mayo???) that didn't really belong in a banhmi, imo. Overall though, it was fine. I woke up hungover that day so the carby bread was really appreciated. 😂

This was MUCH tastier than it looked - I really enjoyed it! Excellent service from the flight attendant in First, who gave me a warm welcome as a oneworld frequent flyer.

LAX-CUN
Lunch:
Entrée Salad with egg. (Other option was Beef Sandwich)
This was ok - the cauliflower was marinated in curry, which overwhelmed the flavor of the dish.

Both meals were delicious. The breakfast was very filling, as was the dinner. I know it has been mentioned before, but I can't get over the fact that it's a real filet! I would pay $35 in a restaurant and be happy. It's also great to see that even the disposable napkins retain the button hole.

It has been years since I've been upgraded on BUR-SEA.

Because BUR does not have catering facilities, the SEA-BUR flight that comes down the night before is double catered with breakfast for the next day. However, AS used to offer only a "hot option" and it was some kind of cheesy egg scramble, either on bread or wrapped like a burrito. This was a 'non-standard breakfast' and in past threads, we'd speculated on why AS didn't just cater the cold breakfast and serve that to everyone.

Here's what the "Burbank breakfast" used to be:

On Thanksgiving morning I snagged an unexpected upgrade and was happy that the single choice was the cold breakfast. It was good!

I had his last night, AS 193 LAX-ANC. Flight left LAX 25 minutes late, so takeoff 7:45 PM. Note that the warm nuts were served with the meal. The meal was OK but the chicken was a bit dry and the salad very wilted. Service was perfunctory at best. First round of drinks immediately after takeoff, followed very quickly by the meal. After that nothing, zip, NADA. No warm cookies, no snack basket. For over 2 hours after the meal the FA hid in the galley with the curtain closed. Hour fifteen before landing I pushed the FA button to get a final Tito's & Diet Coke. Overall very poor service. The pilots said there would be bumps for the first hour or so (during the meal service) but it would smooth out after that. Very smooth flight for the last three hours.

AS56 ATL-SEA 9am dep. 12/5

Fall hash was already sold out online, so I went with fritatta. No regrets. Had to add some salt and pepper to add some flavor. Frittata piece was VERY generous and the apple chicken sausage was very good.

SEA-ANC tomorrow shows the "Fall Grain Bowl" (Roasted sweet potatoes and apple served with quinoa, marinated kale, creamy gouda, and toasted walnuts, then topped with a cinnamon maple vinaigrette) as the only choice (besides the fruit & cheese). Has anyone had this? "Herb Roasted Chicken" is sold out on the pre-order menu (upgrade came at approximately 20 hours out). Should I pre-order the grain bowl (which does not sound very appealing) or hope the chicken is available. I'm in 3A on a 737-900.

if you enjoy vegetarian type dishes, or the veggies in the grain bowl, I say give it a try. It’s surprisingly better than you may think. Of course everyone’s tastes are different but I really enjoyed it.

A younger TravelZoomer would roll their eyes so much at this question, but in the world of first world problems how often do they change out the menu? The miso pork chop is tasty but eating it for the 5th time in a few weeks is getting a bit boring

My recent FWP on a 5 hour flight was that there was no drink service for the first hour, but then the FA served me triples (unprompted) for the remainder of the flight, and I had my car parked at the arriving by airport. 😮‍💨🤙🏻

I'm almost jealous. Some of the current offerings have me almost longing to fly somewhere so I can try them. The Holy God Of Airborne Bent Forks is probably breathing a sigh of relief.

Fall Hash

Winter Frittata

DFW - SEA
12/9/21

I had the Fall Hash and my wife had the Winter Frittata. We were both blown away by the flavor and cleaned our plates. I would actually order the Fall Hash bowl if it were at a drive-thru breakfast location on the go. The sauce was the boss!

I took pictures to post here, but it says I need 5 posts to be able to share it. I'm not going to spam the forums just to share some pictures.
