The chicken breast was dry, as expected, but still tasty. The saffron rice and lemon meringue were very good. Still better than what most other airlines are serving these days. No cookies were offered on the flight.

I thought the cod was...fine? To me it seemed mildly flavored and the cod was cooked well and not dry. Overall, it tasted like a lighter/healthier meal. Also, mine definitely looked less black than the one in gold10829's post. Our F/A also wrote different quotes for each of our meals which I thought was interesting.

No plated dessert meant the cookies came out, which ended up being southern toffee with nuts (maybe pecans?), and as expected, delicious.

It was pretty decent tho unremarkable and came with a lemon meringue tart. Service was very good and professional with a pass of the snack basket around an hour out of DCA.

This was my first transcon since COVID, but things mostly seemed normal except the coffee was in paper cups. My wife and I pre-ordered the kale bowl, which we both thought was pretty tasty. My neighbor had the onion frittata, I passed on that as I hate onions but it also looked pretty good. My son pre-ordered the fruit and cheese plate, which came with yogurt. There was one pass of the snack basket about an hour before landing; I selected the pea-toes based on reviews here and was not let down. We landed around an hour early due to favorable winds, all in all a very smooth flight although JFK Terminal 1 is pretty sad these days.

I was hesitant but tried the Bahn-mi. It was OK. The pickled slaw and Sriracha really made the sandwich. The bread was a bit too thick and some small bits were very soggy. Also, the banhmi had this sauce (Sriracha mayo???) that didn't really belong in a banhmi, imo. Overall though, it was fine. I woke up hungover that day so the carby bread was really appreciated. 😂

This was MUCH tastier than it looked - I really enjoyed it! Excellent service from the flight attendant in First, who gave me a warm welcome as a oneworld frequent flyer.

LAX-CUN
Lunch:
Entrée Salad with egg. (Other option was Beef Sandwich)
This was ok - the cauliflower was marinated in curry, which overwhelmed the flavor of the dish.

Both meals were delicious. The breakfast was very filling, as was the dinner. I know it has been mentioned before, but I can't get over the fact that it's a real filet! I would pay $35 in a restaurant and be happy. It's also great to see that even the disposable napkins retain the button hole.

Still one poivre left when I was done, so consider this fine art.
I think you were a few poivre short. 😃 Fine art or the art of fine cooking? I would have added the poivre before.... 😄 I prefer freshly ground and course.

These dishes have been noted upthread, but we enjoyed them on today’s SFO-ORD and the melted cookie!

Roasted Chicken Clementine
Boneless Roasted Chicken Breast marinated with Clementine and fennel, accompanied by roasted fennel and clementine slices, saffron basmati rice, and marinated Tuscan kale.

Butternut Squash Risotto
Mascarpone Butternut Squash Risotto with roasted butternut squash, herb marinated roasted tomato, wilted spinach, and smoked tomato cream sauce.

What I didn't previously comment on was the current pathetica (a new word?) of the Snack Basket. Really paltry choices. I suppose somewhere a bunch of Swedish Fish gorged themselves on beef jerky, killing all the cows and the fish. And the cows ate all the cookie bites before they were dried into jerky. What was there - Chex mix, Biscoff and one other thing? I'd rather have been served a staining greasy cookie of any flavo(u)r. So, I suffered with Chex mix and a can of wine, and a box of water.

No snack basket at all on my last PDX-ONT flight on Tuesday. I like the Peatos, and my partner also likes them (when they last long enough to make it off the plane).

And the butter pecan cookie was served cold, which wasn't a bad thing. It didn't seem underbaked, so I wonder if they were put in too soon and the FA let them all cool completely, or if the oven was out of service and they were boarded fully baked or something. I'd also just had a chocolate chip cookie in the lounge, so I just saved it for the next day.

It looks like the changes include the addition of pre-ordering in Y on shorthaul flights. I have the option of the Mediterraneaen Tapas Picnic Pack, Northwest Deli Picnic Pack and the Kid's Choice Picnic Pack for PDX-SFO on 11/6.

I wonder if beverage service is returning to F on short haul like PDX-SEA or SEA-GEG or SEA-BOI.

according to the current service standard it should already be happening. In the last six months I’ve been on SEA-GEG and SEA-PDX and F got a full beverage on both.

Some recent general observations - after a handful of transcon and HI flights over the past few months (AS / AA / DL) - AS has the best food out there, at least with the recent state of affairs. DL and AA were pouring some decent wines on the premium transcon routes (and yes, the lie flat seats made them taste even better) but the overall AS meal taste is winning the 2021 game.

PDX-SJD pre-order Everything bagel quiche, crisp Irish bacon and sweet apple potato pancake and lime and cilantro crema or rich North African shakshuka sauce over black lentils and poached eggs, topped with fresh scallion and brined feta crumble, served with a toasted zatar dusted crostini or F & C. (this not a joke- I'm not that creative)

Wow....that's pretty amazing text, even for AS catering If PDXPremier were in-charge, your options would be:

1. Tillamook sharp cheddar omelette with pepper bacon, shredded hash browns, mixed fresh fruit, and a cream cheese danish.

2. Cinnamon swirl french toast with Vermont maple syrup, reindeer sausage, mixed fresh fruit, and a blueberry scone.

It's probably better that I don't write the menus since I would have a tough time deciding between the two although I'm sure both options would be unavailable for pre-order so I'd get to have whatever AS decided for me

Flew SEA to DAL yesterday as the final leg of a DAL-SEA-PDX return trip. Having read this forum, I had moderate-high expectations for Alaska's offerings before the trip, but have to say the offering was p&%$ poor. The service was excellent and treated well with plenty of wine topups and good natured chat etc, however the food was dreadful. I'm rarely one to complain on that front, but I left most of what I was given. Pre-ordered the clementine chicken. It was bone dry, half the size of those examples shown above and had a minicule slice (about 2cm wide) of clementine. The veg was unseasoned and the salad was merely lettuce leaves. No dessert on the tray and not offered. Did get a cookie later in the flight which was tasty, but after flight I ended up in Buc'ee's getting a late-night brisket sandwhich to fill the void. Won't be rushing back to Alaska for future trips
