The chicken breast was dry, as expected, but still tasty. The saffron rice and lemon meringue were very good. Still better than what most other airlines are serving these days. No cookies were offered on the flight.

I thought the cod was...fine? To me it seemed mildly flavored and the cod was cooked well and not dry. Overall, it tasted like a lighter/healthier meal. Also, mine definitely looked less black than the one in gold10829's post. Our F/A also wrote different quotes for each of our meals which I thought was interesting.

No plated dessert meant the cookies came out, which ended up being southern toffee with nuts (maybe pecans?), and as expected, delicious.

Cod was really dry. However couldn’t complain as I was hungry. Snack basket came out 1 hour prior to arrival. Cookie was given shortly after meal was cleared

It was pretty decent tho unremarkable and came with a lemon meringue tart. Service was very good and professional with a pass of the snack basket around an hour out of DCA.

This was my first transcon since COVID, but things mostly seemed normal except the coffee was in paper cups. My wife and I pre-ordered the kale bowl, which we both thought was pretty tasty. My neighbor had the onion frittata, I passed on that as I hate onions but it also looked pretty good. My son pre-ordered the fruit and cheese plate, which came with yogurt. There was one pass of the snack basket about an hour before landing; I selected the pea-toes based on reviews here and was not let down. We landed around an hour early due to favorable winds, all in all a very smooth flight although JFK Terminal 1 is pretty sad these days.

I was hesitant but tried the Bahn-mi. It was OK. The pickled slaw and Sriracha really made the sandwich. The bread was a bit too thick and some small bits were very soggy. Also, the banhmi had this sauce (Sriracha mayo???) that didn't really belong in a banhmi, imo. Overall though, it was fine. I woke up hungover that day so the carby bread was really appreciated. 😂

This was MUCH tastier than it looked - I really enjoyed it! Excellent service from the flight attendant in First, who gave me a warm welcome as a oneworld frequent flyer.

LAX-CUN
Lunch:
Entrée Salad with egg. (Other option was Beef Sandwich)
This was ok - the cauliflower was marinated in curry, which overwhelmed the flavor of the dish.

Both meals were delicious. The breakfast was very filling, as was the dinner. I know it has been mentioned before, but I can't get over the fact that it's a real filet! I would pay $35 in a restaurant and be happy. It's also great to see that even the disposable napkins retain the button hole.

Feels like it should be time for a breakfast menu update. I think I am burnt out on the croissant sandwiches. They did give us cookies at the end of breakfast, which was a nice surprise. Butter Pecan for Life.

for those interested, sounds like a menu change will be coming on Nov 4. As mentioned before with some additional info:

glassware is back in FC
wine poured by the glass will be back in FC
bubbles will be back in both cabins. Canned bubbles but there are some decent canned bubbles as long as you're not too fancy
cold meal will come back to ultra short haul FC (think PDX-SFO/SJC/OAK/LAS/SMF kind of thing)
heated meal option on short haul FC (think SEA-LAX/SNA/BUR/ONT)
warm mixed nuts return on short/medium/long haul and PLH
choices of complimentary munchies in Y on all flights with a full beverage service
additional fresh choices in Y and more options for purchase onboard.
individual water bottles go away in Y - back to poured water

Thanks for the update. But curious. Any update to the drinks menu such as Rum or Diet Sprite?

no word - which tells me that i don't think we can expect that. They also didn't mention adding other juices - which I would love them to do since everyone is asking for them

Thanks for the update--everything sounds great so kudos to AS for leading the way on bringing back catering. Were you just using PDX-LAS as an example or is there really food returning to this "exception" route?

I was using it as an example. Not completely sure if that route sees food, but I know PDX-bay area will and I can't imagine PDX-LAS won't if bay area does. We'll know for sure in the next week or so.

Including on E175s? It would be great if that includes routes like SFO-PHX also.

PDX-SFO is 550 miles. SFO-PHX is 650; 20 miles short of the current 670 mile cutoff for a cold meal option on both Mainline & OO/QX E175. I would wager that would be a yes! 🙂

SFO-PHX is only 28 miles shorter than SFO-SEA. I like that PHX-SEA squeaks in a hot meal by 6 miles. 😃

Since SEA to MRY (E175) is 750 miles, does that mean a hot meal in FC? If so...awesome!!

Nope....no hot meals on E175s regardless of flight length....supposedly due to lack of ovens on some of them.

Depends. Horizon E175's have hot galleys, and per an FA I spoke to yesterday morning on a SkyWest E175, they're getting scheduled for training on hot galley service in F, as SkyWest is upgrading their planes to hot meals.
