SFO does have an RFP out for a lounge in T1. Don't think this is for AA, though.

SFO has an opportunity for you to join its successful concession program. The Airport Commission has commenced the Request for Proposals (RFP) process for the Harvey Milk Terminal 1 Airport Lounge Lease.

The Airport will accept questions and comments from October 10, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. through October 24, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., and will accept proposals from January 15, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. through January 22, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.

The Harvey Milk Terminal 1 Airport Lounge comprises 1 lease: 1 premise approximately 12,466 square feet of space located in the Harvey Milk Terminal 1 Boarding Area B. The Airport Lounge is required to offer the follow services and amenities: living room seating areas, food and beverage offerings, including alcoholic beverages, restrooms, showers, luggage storage, Wi-Fi enabled work areas, business center services, tranquility area, children’s area. The proposed term is twelve years with two, 1-year options for extension. Rent for the Airport Lounge shall be CAT II Space Rent at $248.75 per square foot which equates to $3,100,915.50 per year.

That's from the RFP. Sounds like a nice Admiral's Club to me. I like the idea of a children's area, I wish more lounges had that.

Because a lot of us are based at SFO, and some (including yours truly) are AS elites.

Also---AS does not have a premium credit card product, while the AA Executive Card includes full AC membership (including reciprocals) for the primary and AA lounge access only while flying AA or AS for up to 10 additional authorized users. Seriously for a $495 annual fee, theoretically, 22 people could access an Admirals Club at the same time. Not a bad deal for your soccer team, or perhaps if the Van Trapp family went to Honolulu with the Brady Bunch?

American Airlines will have an enormous new Admirals Club on the second level of the new Terminal 1 with dramatic views overlooking the International Terminal and hills to the west.

BTW, the current Admirals Club in T2 will turn into a concession space for SFO when AA moves to T1 in March of next year.

I'm guessing it's for the non-airline affiliated one, but it theoretically could be any of the 3.

"American Airlines will have an enormous new Admirals Club on the second level of the new Terminal 1 with dramatic views overlooking the International Terminal and hills to the west. There will also be an non-airline-affiliated lounge open to all passengers on a pay-per-use basis. There is also lounge space for a yet-to-be-named international airline lounge."

Ouch.

More SF real estate insanity.

I'd be interested in any update on this too, flying through SFO in July.

Just kidding. Nobody knows, but given the construction you can see up there while taxiing, not anytime soon. I'd be shocked by Q2, Q3 is more likely, which means it'll probably be Q4.

When Alaska says "opening in 2020" it means on or about December 15th 2020.

I think you're right. The 1st mention of it that I've seen in months is in the January issue of Alaska Beyond (inflight magazine) says "late 2020".

It's on page 12:

I was in this terminal late last week. Exterior construction still ongoing - this lounge isn't even close. Thankfully I have other options at SFO, but sucks not having an option in the terminal i frequent most.

Anyone know whether this photo is of the T2 public observation deck or the T2 AS lounge deck? My guess would be the former but I have no way of knowing.
