Out of curiosity, I went back thru my PP history and found at least 25 PP person entries on my account into AS BR's in the past year (I often travel with a +1).
If it's about $20/person entry in revenue that they're getting, that's some $500 in annual revenue AS is getting from me -- quite a bit more than they would from an AS BR membership, and without having the liability of possible AA and OAL lounge entries.
I recognize I'm a heavy PP user, but there are probably other cases where a customer is more profitable as a PP holder than a BR member.

When the PP sign is up, are AA Admirals Club members still admitted? Any recent experiences?

I think PP might have gone out over its skis with the chase reserve deal.

They're trying to figure out how to add a second floor. There are offices above it which need to be relocated first. Of course adding a second floor will make the lounge a total mess for the construction period.
I've been told many times that the BR/AL administration knows about the issue. I guess the person who runs the lounge program saw how crowded it was one day and it "clicked."
As for the overcrowding, nothing will ever beat the temporary BR when the C concourse was being remodeled in the late 90s/early 00s.
If I remember correctly, the old DL Crown Room was located closer to the end of the concourse near D10. The new one is closer to D7. If you look above the customs security checkpoint and the statue of Gov. Vic Atiyeh, you'll see an empty room. I think that's where the old Crown Room was located.

The conference room is being removed this year which will add some more seating.

Another data point..
Just landed at seatac about 30 minutes ago..
N Gates boardroom had no sign but D gates boardroom did (limiting priority pass and lounge key members)
