Perks

Chauffeur Drive NOT Available
Car service is not available for all Business Class and First Class passengers on Alaska Airlines ticketed award tickets on Emirates flights (as of Jan 2015). The chauffeur will not confirm if you use the EK website for this, though the website makes it look you can make a reservation.

Lounges
Access is available for all passengers traveling in Business and First Class. Not all cities have lounges and many may be operated by a Partner. There have been some reports of people having an issue accessing the Dubai lounges as the tickets may appear in their system as non-revenue employee travel. This is not as much of a problem as it used to be but in case it comes up please advise the lounge attendant that you are on an Alaska Airlines award.

Dubai Connect

AS Awards on EK do not qualify for Dubai Connect, which is the service that offers the free hotel.

Tricks to find Transoceanic availability

Instead of performing a blanket, i.e. SEA-DXB search, perform: SEA-MED.
Madinah is a destination that is only served by EK. Consequently, if there is availability, only EK will show up in the calendar results.

No. You get the chauffeur service but not the free hotel.

Shoot. I don't really want to pay for a hotel. I assume the first class lounge is open 24 hrs. I could camp in there, I guess. Obviously not that desirable.

IIRC, regardless of the connection time, AS Awards on EK do not qualify for Dubai Connect, which is the service that offers the free hotel.

We flew through DXB in May, and used the airport hotel on the outbound, and the quiet rooms on the return. I must say, the quiet rooms did the trick for getting some sleep, though not as mentally comfortable as having a true bed in a hotel room. You may want to check the airport hotel out anyway as you can sometimes snag a decent rate through hotels.com.

I was thinking about the quiet rooms and I may take my chance on Hotwire.

Thanks for the help!

Glad to help. Didn't think about Hotwire - that might just work out.
Good luck!

I'm sorry, but it's too regular--I don't buy ASTechGuy's "the GDSes are out of sync" explanation. If AS agents can do a manual sell on them, then the seats are available. And if AS's website can't find them, then it's a problem on AS's end.

AS needs to quit making excuses and fix it!

I had F booked DFW DXB OCT 2nd just cancelled that (if anyone needs it)

Now booked BKK DXB LAX with a 2 day layover in Dubai A380 all F ^^

I'm also on the 0930AM Departure from BKK! I LOVE day flights

By the way the Alaska agent was great, she deposited the miles back into my account. Then held on while I booked the new flights on-line. So simple!

Congrat! DXB-LAX in F probably has the least availability in the system

Absolutely. Reeks of deliberate blocking like USDM did with LH F.

Starnet blocking has replicated itself in the AS-EK systems

I'm not certain its intentional (as its still possible to book some) but more a factor of EK tightening up award space significantly, and a technical limitation as well.

Are we sure it's not some other factor? Maybe EK doesn't release to all of it partners equally. Is it the same EK booking class for AS as QF or others?

A good point. Maybe EK is getting tired of all these YQ free tickets.

Surely when they negotiated the rates, they figured people were planning on booking? Why not add YQ to the agreement at the beginning?

as far as i know its Z for all programs. EK only has 1 bucket for F awards. They have 2 for J awards but even when the ones marked as "Partner" are there they don't alway's come up either. If its working fine on long sell just not the AS site. Then even when AS site shows availability it ends up not being there.
