transit would have been more than 20 hours and less than 24 hours ... I'm fine with that. Had that in Chengdu once. No problem.

Anyway I have ticketed it - BUD-CDG-AMS-TPE/TPE-HKG (23 hours layover) HKG-CDG-AMS-BUD ... 1543€ minus 350€ travel voucher = 1193€ - not the best XP ratio you could get, but cool journey to Asia.

My point was rather than both TPE-HKG and TPE-PVG are considered domestic under the FB scheme, so it would not add 30XP but 12XP... but I fully agree with you, XPs are (almost) not everything in life and a short hop around HKG or PVG is always enjoyable, especially when it comes for free! (and 12 is still greater than 0 !)

That is an excellent point and one that is sure to raise some diplomatic incidents. Keep us informed how many XP get credited!
Bonus question: What about flights from France to DOMTOM. Do you get just your 2xp domestic

No

For those in central america , Long 2 , so 10xp in economy and in case of indian ocean its long 3 , so 12xp in economy

So when FB want , they can make exceptions . but in cases such as SVO-VVO or JFK-LAX , you still get 2xp

Interesting - I wasn't aware that TPE-HKG is counted as a domestic segment. most probably for politcal reasons :/

HKG layover is perfect ... TPE 22:05 - HKG 23:50 - onward HKG 22:50 - CDG 05:55 ... TPE-CDG would have been a (horrible) day flight, TPE-AMS night flight too expensive ... and I like one extra day in HKG.

Hmmm! Decent trip, for sure … but I once had an EUR-TPE-SYD-AKL r/t (CI) with 18/22 hour layovers in TPE. Not good memories, really.

Maybe I was in the wrong frame of mind, or just plain grumpy, but I found the folks around the airport zone (miles from anywhere) quite unhelpful, even rude (outbound). On the way back, I decided to get a 'day room' at the airport Novotel. Lovely hotel and really nice staff, but the ****s at the Accor Club credited my status level as "0 nights" (despite paying a full o/n rate and having 8+ hours of sleep).

If I do such a long layover at TPE again, I would certainly arrange (in advance or on the spot) a taxi ride to see something (there's quite a few decent sights, according to a respected family member). There's really sweet Fanny Adams at the airport.

-- Henry

Edit: Sorry, misread your post! Layover(s) at HKG are far more fun.

Seems like the generally high flight prices in July does not count for all business routes. Yesterday I ordered a flight to Germany, making me 90 XP, for EUR 580.00 only EUR 65.00 shy of the similar Economy tickets. EUR 6.4 per XP is also quite nice. This is not a milage run per se, but I accepted a few more legs to the journey given the XPs...

July and August are generally cheap times for business routes all around. High season mostly applies to cattle class.

Would you like to share the routing, if it is not revealing too much about yourself? Looking to book something this summer!

42 XP for USD $470. Easy one day with sightseeing and lunch in Montréal. Shorter turns also available.
