A good compromise with AZ is to book Y+ as medium flights of the itinerary are then in J. A good bargain for miles as well as AZ Y+ is more generous than most airlines in J... I was tempted by a r/t to SEL for <700€ during the latest sale (although schedules were not optimum), quite nice for 78XP and >30,000 miles (incl. STE+ bonus)!

AZ 20% sale

Alitalia has another sale: 20% off in both economy and business to Europe, North Africa and Middle East.

From The Netherlands: https://www.alitalia.com/nl_nl/offers/all-offers/special-deal-fast20.html

From Germany: https://www.alitalia.com/de_de/offers/all-offers/special-deal-fast20.html

Germany is near enough. You could maybe get something from Düsseldorf or Cologne (new Alitalia destination). I was wondering if that new CGN route was going to produce any interesting opportunities.

Hi all. First time posting here so I hope I'm in the right place...

I'm trying to hit FB Gold again by Dec 31st. I'm currently 53 XP short, with only 2 trips planned currently. I'll go one way from AMS to SFO for Christmas, but I'm coming back after new years so this only give me 12 XP with a cheap economy ticket. I also plan to go r/t from from AMS to TLS in a couple weeks, which will give me 10 more. So that's 22 XP that I currently have scheduled, leaving me with 31 XP needed.

I have a week in November that I can go wherever... can someone advise a destination/route from AMS to help me get this remaining 31 XP? Thank you!

Alitalia has 20% off this weekend with FAST20NL code, also good for business class. Flying out of AMS-FCO-ATH this should give 60 XP for 374€ :

It is. But it doesn't contain the low, low fare of BRU-FCO-VLC

Wow, thanks for this. That's great. Do you know where it confirms the XP given? I don't see it showing anywhere on the Alitalia site..

I'm going to make this purchase today, but how are you calculating that this gives 60XP? I'm not familiar with how miles convert to XP, etc. Also, on the Alitalia site, it isn't clear which class I'm getting with each category of purchase. To get the above rate, did you use Economy lassic or flex?

Edit: I figured it out. Your screenshot was business class. Got it. Purchae made. Thank you!

Thanks for this!

Just purchased AMS > FCO > SVO for 385€ in business

Living in France I looked at what Alitalia where offering and it is DOUBLE the price to go from CDG > SVO. Absolutely crazy!!!

Currently have 3 AF vouchers thanks to some complaints so just going to get a cheap economy ticket up to AMS before changing planes to go to FCO ad SVO. Alitalia do offer the code FAST20FR but those prices are a killer!!!

There's no relationship between miles and XP. XP are earned as per the table you will find on this FB webpage.
https://www.flyingblue.com/fr/programme#xp
As you can see, one medium-haul flight in J earns 15 XP. So, AMS-FCO-ATH-FCO-AMS is 4 flights x15 = 60 XP.

Thanks for clarifying. That makes sense. On a related note, I'm about to buy tickets for Christmas from AMS to SFO. All the economy tickets show 12xp, even if making a stop in Salt Lake and going via Delta or something. Is there a way to get more XP for this flight even if we definitely want an economy ticket?

Thanks,
Michael

It shouldn't do. Internal flights are 2XP.

Possibly you could get 17 if you had a stop in CDG or LON.

Edit: You can go AMS > SFO with a layover in both CDG and LHR. 1028€ or so. that would equate to 34XP return
