Thanks Goldorak. I guess that it might be a bit of an adventure. But we'll definitely have our PCR test results with us as Croatia requires us to have a negative PCR with a swab up the nose no more than 48 hours from arrival in Croatia. Makes it a bit of a challenge from the US west coast.

LOL. Although now not sure we're going to be on AF. LH released First Class award seats with LAX-FRA on a 747-8. Near identical departure and arrival times. LH First inflight service has not changed from pre-Covid days. Plus, LH will let us wear cloth masks, which AF apparently won't. Didn't realize this until I received this pre-departure email. My bolding/underlining...
"... Important: it is mandatory to wear a surgical mask upon arrival at the airport and on board all our aircraft.Without a surgical mask, you won't be able to board. Cloth masks are not accepted. You will have to wear it throughout your flight. For your comfort, we advise you to bring several surgical masks..."

The latest from Ligne La Première on our LAX-CDG-DBV flights. Spoke to a pleasant rep who called me back after consulting with colleagues at CDG. According to his info, a PA would meet us at our LAX-CDG gate with a limo, as usual, and drive us directly near the LP area of the J lounge, without going to customs and without going to security. Wonderful if true. PA and limo to CDG-DBV, but no PA service at DBV since it is not an AF station, which is fine. As for food in the lounge, he claimed that the Alain Ducasse menu was available although he didn't know whether it was the full menu. He was going to try to locate and send me the lunch menu.
He did send me the LAX-CDG LP menu. It seems a little scaled back from pre-Covid with no caviar, no soup, no salad choice. What is PLAT CJFP?

If P is installed, it would mean the the first cabin (between the two doors) will have P and J. The front "big" galley would serve both P and J.
That is a bit of a weird setting.

Very interesting! But yeah basically they seem to say that the 2nd galley for J is so small that they'll have to do a lot of stuff in the front galley, hence they'll have to keep walking through P. I can see how annoying that would be for passengers, even though the thought of La Premiere product on such an amazing and quiet aircraft is really thrilling!

It would indeed be interesting as this plane is really quite.
A350 is now serving GRU and I flew with it last week in J.
I am not sure how possible it could be to retrofit the actual cabin so I guess it will only be new planes.
Talking about A350, there is now only 1 toilet for J cabin as the one in front of the cabin can't be used (I guess reserved for pilots and crew members). This is definitely a pain as you have to wait forever when everybody wants to use them before the descent.

No wonder that decisions are so slow to be taken and we better understand why client service is maybe not the 1st priority of everyone in this company ....
Besides that, introducing a P cabin in a new bird remains a great news ; AF appears to envisage a future for La Premiere even with the retreat of the 77W in a couple of years 👍

Nice. Now make sure it actually goes to places (and not just a few).
But of course, let's see if and how this really happens. This wouldn't be the first time that AF changes its mind on something. And there have been numerous instances of new cabin layouts taking literally ages to actually happen. Just think of the time it takes to identify potential suppliers of the seat/ send an RFP / get the offers / negotiate / discuss with Airbus / get the regulator to authorise the seat / get the green light from the cabin attendants that the thickness of the carpet is sufficient to not cause unexpected wearing off of their shoes and friction in their socks and who would pay for the crème réparateur for their feet / re-discuss in the executive committee if they should really do it / re-issue the RFP because the first supplier has gone bust in the meantime / re-select the supplier / re-discuss with Airbus / fend of a strike by the flight attendants who boycott all domestic flights from Lyon because management does not allow Flight Attendant union leaders to book the Salon Premiere for private meetings at short notice for their exclusive use and kick out all passengers but keep all kitchen and service staff at their disosal / go into a two year consultation process with the Elysee and the French Foreign Ministry about whether offering P class to Djibouti, Nouakchott and Bangui is really needed / by the time all of that is done the next global economic crisis is on and Air France will debate for two years whether Premiere is really needed.
