Thanks, that's good to know. Although I assume that if something frees up before I can just as well buy through the normal channels, i.e. call centre. But still good to know that they can deal with last minute cancellations and sell them even in the lounge or at the check-in counter.
In CDG, I have no experience and don't know if this can be done at check-in. But I have seen many times airside at 2E at customer service desks some signs about possibility of paid upgrades to J, so it might be the best place to do it (or again at the lounge - I believe they can do it as wel as I have witnessed them many times calling FB for some pax requiring miles upgrades).
I have no idea if they are proposed on most flights with open inventory. If you read the cash upgrade thread in this forum, there are several reports about being proposed one (from J to P), but they are usually very expensive (at least 2K€ one-way)

I am noticing the window seats in the 77W new Business Class cabin are no longer restricted to elites. Was there a recent change in policy? I remember only elites could assign a window seat as recent as a week ago.

777-200 New Business Class?
Hello,
Apologies if this has already been answered, but I would appreciate your help.
I'm looking at booking LHR to Osaka, mainly because of the great deal on at the moment but also to try the new business class seats.
I appreciate that not all of the 777-200's have been updated yet (I've had a look at the wiki post)
On the AF website, you can chose your seats, and on a dummy booking, for the dates I’d like, it’s showing the new seating layout. Some dates in the same month show the old layout, some the new.
Do you think it’s risky booking it, on the new layout... incase there’s a plane swap? or is that highly unlikely?
Thanks for the advice.
Luke

Nobody knows that unfortunately and anything can always happen. As the price for this UK sale to KIX is very interesting, just go ahead and even if you end-up in NEV4, that will still be a very good deal for you.

Forgive me , I can't figure out if my Nov CDG- ATL is on the new 777-300. All it says on the Delta site is 777-300 with no reference to old or new.
Does anyone know?
thanks

Only the seat map can tell you : 1-2-1 is the new seat, 2-3-2 is the old config. But ATL is not supposed to be BEST before January, so...But who knows, it is the same for IAD and I had it 2 weeks ago.

Recently, AF posted on its corporate website an update on the new cabins, stating that by March 2016 30 aircraft will be refurnished. Read more here
This means, judging from the FT wiki on the upgrade progress, that only one aircraft will be refurbished per month, which seems slower than before.
A far larger disappointed for me is this website that they launched to promote the new cabins.
http://best.airfrance.com/
The most crucial piece of information - which particular flight have them (subject to operational changes, etc) is missing. Only destinations are listed, which may lead to disappointment for many as not every single flight on a particular route is scheduled to have the best.

thanks for the update but I remain very confused. I just verified that if I purchased a ticket today for IAH>CDG for next Monday, I would be able to sit in a BEST seat on a A330...at least according to the seat layout presented when I made my mock booking. However, according to AF's information you passed along, none of the 330s are in the BEST configuration and for that matter, Houston doesn't even show up on their map or list of cities served.
