Most fares are changeable with a fee, but you'd also have to pay the fare difference too. So, depending on what your original fare is, could be anywhere from $100-10,000+. There's no harm in calling to ask.

Flying Delta codeshare CDG-DXB and was offer 409EUR upgrade from coach to business. Wasn't worth it to me as it was a daytime flight and I wasnt worried about a good sleep.

Ugh, was checking in for my flight DLA-CDG, had an upgrade offer. Was in the middle of putting in credit card info and browser crashed.. now that option isn't showing anymore.

try again several times. Sometimes the offer may come up again (it happened to me before). And if not, ask at check-in counter at the airport.

I flew on Delta medal (currently Platinum Elite Plus until January 31), "V class" but all of my flights back from Athens to Paris to Boston where on AF. When I checked in on their website the day before it asked if I wanted to upgrade to Business for $601. I did, and it was great.

Upgrade even when ticket was not bought from AF
Flying from SFO to CDG in a few days ...I bought an A fare ticket through my travel agent ... Plenty of business class availability left.... Did not want to wait until OL CI so called AF today however the AF agent said she does not have access to the ticket to upgrade it and I should call the travel agent who sold me the ticket.... Was she right? Or do I just have to wait until the check in opens for the offer to be presented?

Offers to upgrade shortly before departure is something different. You need to receive the offer to take advantage of it. Or you can ask at the airport if it is available.
