I'll try to clarify some things. 2 adults, 3 year old and a 16 month old. 3 paid seats, and the infant sat on a lap.
Her 3 year old got popcorn crumbs everywhere, dirtied two blankets from spilled water, and candy. crayon was scribbled on a wall, and somehow broke a reclining seat (not sure how that's possible, but with AC quality it was probably already breaking anyway). Baby was crying for about an hour, but calmed down after. Other PAX were complaining they were too disruptive, so they got the boot. it was a very stressful situation for both parents, last thing they needed was to be told move all their stuff to another seat mid flight.

how do you come up with a free seat?
OP said
3 PAID business tickets - purchased by company for a overseas relocation
4 people travelling
1- Mom - Paid J seat
1- Dad - paid J seat
1 child 2+ - presumably over the age of 2- due to 3rd Paid J seat
1 child - lap infant presumably under the age of 2.
I would like to hear the FA side. But if AC will not remove a drunk in J who is loud and obnoxious then they should not remove a crying child (and no I am not a parent, so no bias there)

I have seen people try to pull this a few times, claiming child under 2, get a free ride.
They have only paid for 3 seats, Lying about age of child could be considered attempted fraud.
Again my WAG, younger one was 3-5 and was splitting seat with older one after take off. Things went badly got a choice of buying another J seat in the air ( after FA or SD forced issue) or move back to Y

No where does poster list ages of kids, why do you claim lap child is <2 ? does not say that any where I see.

Mine all needed their own passports as infants except for the oldest and by the time the next one was born he needed one as well. All but he were required to have passports as babies. They are in their teens and early twenties now.
For oldest when I flew with him (in J I might add) as an infant, I was required to provide birth certificate at check in.
Without knowing the details for sure I certainly won't judge their parenting skills and the situation had to be stressful for all. Parents, other passengers etc. The colouring of the wall irks me but I've seen worse from kids, (and adults) on board. This situation sounds bizarre. I would be very interested in hearing AC's or other passenger's take on this one.

When is the last time you flew with kids? Infants require their own passports in Canada. feel free to peruse the GC website.

I am neither anti-child or anti-parent. What I am anti is bad parents who won't control their errant children because they are indulgent and weak. Were I attempting to get some sleep on a TPAC and Mr. and Mrs. Useless Parents couldn't control their squalling and misbehaving issue I'd be expressing my views to the FA in short order.

The blankets were soiled with water and candy... washable
The crayon art... surely the cleaning staff have something to take that off... parents do
The broken seat... hmm by a 3 year old? in a pod? It's electronic!
So why is economy a better place to be disruptive, display art, soil a blanket and allegedly break a seat??? The kid is 3... c'mon.
Since AC took their money the parents and 3 yr old had as much right to a pod as the rest of them in J. Those who complained should have been reminded that they were on a public plane not a private one and that AC doesn't have any rules to guarantee peace and serenity in business class. I admit, it wouldn't have been a lot of fun!

THIS!
I've also found more noise comes from the J galley than anything I've heard from an infant or child in J on any of my flights.
There are dried coffee /tea/wine drippings and stains on the walls of pods and windows on many of the AC aircraft I fly, likely caused by adults. I had a broken J seat. Twice. I admit to colouring outside the lines. Often. I was never banished to Y from my paid J seat.

Not sure how I missed this thread...
But NO, it is not out of line. If the kid is annoying the J cabin, then I'm with the FA. If a parent wants their kids in J, and they behave well, fine, pay for the seat and be done with it. Some FTers have very well behaved kids, and so I don't have an issue with it.
So no, that person should not get any comp, no voucher or anything. If the kids are annoying little brats who scream till death to us part, then please, sit at the back of the plane. My parents did that if we HAD to travel (funeral or whatever), otherwise they kept me out of a plane until I was old enough.
(Yes, I realize I have strong views on this and I probably just annoyed 50% of the readers on here (or more!))

The FA/InCharge did the correct thing. If parents cannot discipline their children then someone else should take charge, and in the air it's the crew that has responsibility to ensure a quiet environment for those who paid for it. Causing damage in addition to disturbing others is not forgivable nor deserving of compensation. (I can only say that the behavior of the older child says to me these parents should never have had another child.) It could have been worse. Were this a US airline flight, the pilot could well have landed the plane in Anchorage and off-loaded the offending family.

OK, I lol'd. Kinda creepy since I don't know you, but I lol'd anyway
OK, so basically a kid was being a kid, the cabin complained and they got moved. Still would love to hear AC's side, but if this is the case, completely unacceptable as most of us have said since reply #1.
+1 very well said, particularly the bolded part ^

But not me, agree with you fully. (Did I just write that?!) 20 other people also paid for J and expected a tranquil flight that night. I can understand an infant crying at times through the flight, but it would be comforted and held by one of the parents, the crying muffled by blankets. With the older child who was acting up, it should have been the responsibility of the parents to maintain good behavior. Perhaps there was a corner in the back of the economy cabin that was more secluded and thus appropriate for the parents to tend to their charges and actually disturb fewer passengers. (Maybe tie down the offending 3-year old? But more likely seating the two "adults" in the aisle seats and the child in the middle where he could be controlled.
The FA/InCharge did the correct thing. And I hope I didnt read that right and you are not suggesting that the child be "muffled by blankets"

I'd suggest in your example, the FA/In charge would likely move the offenders to the last row of economy -- giving their seats to whoever might have been sitting there -- and tied them down with restraints until the flight landed, at which time they'd be escorted off the plane by local police. In the case at hand, the 3-year old was old enough to know his behavior was inappropriate, and his parents should have been responsible enough to discipline him accordingly, or accept the decision of the crew. Too many of today's parents have no clue how to raise children, and it sounds like these clowns are among them.

Who is going to compensate me for the loud noise from the galley?
Who is going to compensate me for the freak clipping their toenails. In J?
Who is going to compensate me for pax wearing too much fragrance?
Who is going to compensate me for all the idiotic adults I have to share the J cabin with?
What! Crayons have now become weapons of mass discussion?

It's either this, or every other J passenger gets their money back or % off. Defective IFE is what, 10%? Screaming baby should be worth a lot more.
