If, as some here believe, YQ is passed on to the operating carrier, then AE has no incentive to address YQ elimination tactics as it costs them nothing. In fact AE should attempt to acquire more award inventory from YQ-free carriers as it only improves their value proposition to the customer.

This feels lilke devaluation is increasing faster than I can collect miles. Changes to Amex bonus, fare increases (shift to Tango), and total lack of useful promotions (e.g. loss of Sobeys) don't really help either.

I just redeemed 100,000 AE for 2 F awards on TG, NRT-BKK return (A380 and 747). With the devaluation and reclassification of Thailand, each one of those tickets will cost 130,000 AE. My 100K redemption for 2 tickets won't even be enough for 1 ticket! Throw in over $500 in YQ to add insult to injury. AE will be last of the pack for intra-Asia as a result of this devaluation, although the rest of the pack for Star Alliance isn't exactly brilliant either.

I am devastated. Inter-Asia TYO-SIN in J was my favourite redemption. Will have to take a look at other Star Alliance carrier reward charts for this route to see what my options for switching FQTV plans are.

like other's i've also been focused on the Europe J award and intra-Asia J inflation...but the North America to "southern" South America region, or whatever it's called in J also went up 16% or so. That's a tough one because its not only costing more points, but the YQ is horrific, out of Chile for example. I guess the UA option is still pretty good to have.

NU flights can be displayed on Oneworld schedule under its own code NU, which means you can book it with Avios, just like Dragonair is a OW affiliate of Cathay under its own code KA. Not all subsidiaries of OW carriers are affiliates of Oneworld. Vueling, a popular low cost carrier in Europe, which is owned by IB is a notable and often misunderstood exception for example. Many people took for granted that Vueling is a Oneworld affiliate when it is in fact not, even if you book it under IB code. And if you look under IB's profile, the only affiliates that are OW are Air Nostrum and Iberia Express.
If you can't book it on BA.com, then you must call, in which case, BAEC agents would be happy to waive the phone booking fee for you, so no, you don't have to go to ANA to get to Ishigaki and yes, you can use Avios or any other OW miles without costing an arm or a leg.

WRT to FFP I regularly do much better with OneWorld status for one, for the other, I just can't seem to accumulate AP miles fast enough to keep up with the frequent chart increases.

LOL good J fare, but not on AC. Can do YOW-LIM First/BIZ all the way for $1500 on UA but $2400 on AC.

60K miles with AA
80K miles with CX
63K miles with JL
60K miles with AS
There will be no YQ for this reward booking from Canada to LIM regardless of which program you use whereas, lol, one can only guess how much $$$ AC will ask you to pay in addition to 110K miles. So it isn't just almost double the amount of miles, the scam charges one has to pay must also be factored in. Sure, there are lots of "free TD miles" floating somewhere, 15K here for a checking account, 25K here for another churn oh and another AMEX sign up here... It's simply not sustainable, those miles aren't actually free, soon or later, the reality will catch up when the banks realize they are losing a ton of money on leechers / churners and when that happens, Aeroplan will be in for a rude awakening, just like many of those oil industry rich who couldn't blink their eyes for spending $200,000 when oil was over $100 but now, well, the reality is surely different.
When a FFP needs to seriously devalue its program every other year, you know something is very wrong with it. If the U.S. had real estate bubble, in Canada we have Aeroplan bubble.

For what it is worth, you can do YYZ-MIA-LIM return in AA J for:
60K miles with AA
80K miles with CX
63K miles with JL
60K miles with AS

Fair enough - I'm think I'm willing to take the gamble SK (SAS) is wide-open next summer for TATL on the A330 with new J which looks top notch. 45k + $121 (VIE - CPH - EWR so airport fees at both VIE and CPH) is worth locking down and hoping I'm generally right on my return date from Europe.

I booked a NA-SouthernSA trip in May 2015 and flew it in August 2015. It cost me 60k in Y (admittedly no change between new and old chart but it didn't change zones)

Ojal, but actually they did. It wasn't this recent enhancement it was during the big one before. I apologize to you because I did not make this clear. Disculpas.
