I didn't know that. I don't care all that much about priority boarding (seemed to matter more when I had status!) but on the HD I'd like my carry on to stay carry on so boarding ahead of most of Y would be useful.

Pe hkg ->yvr
Had my first HD PE experience today and was pleasantly surprised. Seats okay for comfort, lots of leg room and good seat width. Food and service was good. As my company travel policy allows PE but not business, this for me is a great option on long hauls.

Basically you received the pre-HD regular Y bulkhead seat experience....now at triple the price.

- J main course served in PE
- wider seat
- better IFE system (available in all seats)
- greater recline

Actually, yes, quite as dense as the HD in Y. The reduced density will come from a much less dense J, and from a few rows of preferred seats in Y. For everyone else, it will be 10 across 31" pitch, just like in the HD.

i recently flew on a JAL 777-200 - 3 class - between ITM-HND...
i would shoot myself in the head if i had to fly that more than the time this flight took....it's 31 and 17.3 and boy was it tight for this gaijin.
thankfully i had a child next to me and was on the aisle...

I'm flying YVR - LHR tomorrow. In order to avoid the 77HD, I'm flying through YYZ, there and back. On the way there, both segments are on 77L, already upgraded. On the way back, the aircraft are 77W and 77L. It makes the trip longer, but it's worth it to avoid the 77HD.

Accidentally flew this sardine can today. 33A, YYZ - YVR (flew DCA - YYZ - YVR) and didn't realize I was on the 777HD until it was too late.
Plane was completely full in economy. Not a single empty seat. Interestingly, I boarded with my fellow 'elites' and we either all went to the back, or to J. I didn't see anyone head to PE, and I forgot to walk up and check it out in-flight.
I'm 6'2 and I was surprised to find I could live with the leg room for five hours, mostly because the person in front of me didn't recline. Would not want to do it across the pond though, and the E175 out of DCA was a limo compared to its big brother.
As to the seat width, I was saved by the fact there was a petite woman next to me. If there had been another me next to me it would have been intolerable.
As I said, I was also saved by the fact that the person in front of me didn't recline, and I didn't recline either. Hopefully I've started a trend
IFE was nice, though.

AA, don't get me wrong, the new Y is a terrible product (even if it is becoming the norm). But suggesting that the new PE is essentially the same as the old Y is just disingenuous, they are decided different. PE is pretty much domestic J, and most people differentiate between domestic Y and J.
