Hi. Would anyone know how to check for *A upgrade availability using AP points? Traveling from YYZ-TPE on BR 35 on April 25, 2014. I have a confirmed "y" class ticket. Cheers!

Automated process, pretty slick actually. I was recently able to use it on SQ from SIN-PVG - upstairs on the A380!
Y+ is great on Eva

e.g. YYZ-TPE BR35 on 4/25 shows business class available on Aeroplan.com now (at least 1 seat), so you're good to upgrade
note: it deducts the 25K Aeroplan right away, and after that you can go check your PNR on EVAAir.com and you'll see it's in Royal Laurel
edit: probably class=I (I'm not sure), but anyway

Easier way is to directly search for the Business class (class=X) on that route, as *A upgrade supposedly comes out of that bucket

I tried. No luck. There seems to be 9 award J spaces available but no *A upgrades available. EVA says that *A award spaces are available. I even spoke to a lead agent at AP. I can't seem to get anywhere.

BR36 ... :(
This seems... completely impossible to book this flight.
There are Eva awards available to JFK... but I can't find anything to YYZ on any date.
Has anyone been able to book this through Aeroplan before? It would be such a sweet, sweet scamcharge free flight...

Yes but as soon as availability window opens, otherwise those seats go like HOT CAKES!

I just took a quick look and see at least 1 J seat on BR36 on Jan 13, 15, 19, 20, 26, 27 - Feb 2, 3, 7, 10....(stopped looking).
