According to the T&C of AP, a reward can be changed without additional miles if there is no change of reward zone. This is just like the change of bookings made before the increase of miles requirement. They would just charge the change fee and can't adjust the miles.

This has to be true especially AP insists that this was not an error. This is a "special offer" promotion. So they can't ask for more miles when the reward is changed later.

Ahh there's the rub. This deal really changes if we can make changes as suggested without having to pay the newer mileage levels.

Different agents are saying different things. Crazy!

Yeah. + one million that. If the deal changes now, I should have booked a trip or two to be able to change it later. Ah, well. C'est la vie, forget it now!

The supervisor whom I talked to when I booked today clearly said that an after- "promo" change would result in a before-"promo" mileage cost.

I took advantage of this "promo" on Friday afternoon before AE was aware they were offering it.

I was planning on a South Africa trip for January-February 2013 but this deal prompted me to move it forward to October-November 2012.

YYC-LHR AC J
LHR-JNB SA J
JNB-CPT SA J Destination
CPT-JNB SA J
JNB-IST TK J Stop
IST-VIE TK J
VIE-FRA LH J
FRA-YYC AC J

100K AE miles x2 and taxes and fees of just over $600/ticket (including fuel surcharge of $320).

Well, in that case I guess I can still feel smug and OK here in YYC...

Here it says "our offices are closed for today": that 1-800 number is automatically directed in Montreal, and it always closes at 21h, at least since 1992.
It's' been a long time I'm not a SE...

This "promo" is pretty interesting... is there any consensus on change fees though? I'm thinking of booking it for November 2012, but in reality, I can't travel until early 2013, so I'm thinking of booking, then paying the change fee to change - but I wonder whether that'll imply extra mileage to change. Any consensus on that?

Just booked a couple of biz class tickets to LAX for next Sept. When I spoke with the agent, he said that sched changes would not require new mileage calculation; however, that any voluntary change would... i.e. if you pay for the change, you'll need to cough up the extra miles.
