Yes - once after I had just arrived to get a cold drink whilst I headed to the museums before they closed at 5pm. I was expecting to have the room moved back later and other items to be resolved, but when I returned at 6:20pm (for a very quick bite to eat in the lounge before heading out again) I found the key card stopped working and I lost more time (20 mins) getting that solved [had to queue 5-10 mins whilst someone else was being checked in. By the time a new room was arranged I realised I was going to find myself moving all my possesions and eat up more time so I stayed put. It was during this iteraction I assumed they would have fixed the missing items, but they didn't and by now I was short of time again, so didn't push except to ask about the welcome drink.

I got to the lounge at about 6:45pm - it was overflowing - people even sat in the meeting room having their evening snacks; after about 20mins I'd partially recharged my phone and had cold drink and headed into the main part of the town to explore. Only after I had walked back to the hotel later that night (11:30pm) I discovered the air conditioning was inoperable but by then I just *needed* to sleep. The GM has messaged me so I will see what they say.

[b]Update: Just noticed that they have also charged me twice (what I though was a pre-authorisation deposit has now gone through as an actual charge).

Hotel: Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort (Siem Reap, Cambodia)
Status: Platinum
VIP treatment: Received a text the day before check in to inform me that a 9 am early check in was available. Texted again on morning of check in at 8:30 am informing me that room was ready. Met by the excellent AFOM who is a real Le Club specialist (this hotel's Le Club Activist) who supervised perfect check in while sitting in Lobby Lounge, and was available throughout the day in the Lobby. Served a drink with cold towel while checking in. For anyone planning to visit: new Club Lounge currently is under construction and expected to be open mid-October after usual delays. It is sitting over the large water area that we walk over to get to our rooms. About 40 meters or so from the buffet restaurant. This was my first visit to this hotel so I do not know if this is a new construction, or if the Club Lounge is replacing something else that was there previously. I am told that it will serve the usual, breakfast, snacks and evening cocktails. I was given two welcome drink vouchers which I used in the Lobby bar. I ordered two delicious smoothies and forgot to ask if there are any restrictions on Welcome drinks. Fruit platter waiting in room with handwritten welcome card, and a glass of red wine with an almost vintage book over the bathtub. At check out was again treated very kindly by a manager and several staff who waived me off outside Lobby. Le O'ccitane toiletries in room and So Spa.

I booked the cheapest room on Private Sale rate and was upgraded to a Junior Suite on the top floor (3rd Floor) of one of their two wings.

Reaction:

First Stay at this Sofitel and will be extremely happy to go back. Low season and very quiet during the day with people probably outside sightseeing. Around 70 people while I was at breakfast, mostly FIT guests but possibly one or more small groups of retirees. Very good buffet breakfast. Nothing to complain about at all. Was treated very kindly and proactively by the senior staff, and was amazed just after check in as I was walking around how many young staff who had never seen me before greeted me by name. Someone must have Whatsapped the clothes I was wearing as soon as I arrived. Was waived off by one manager and three young staff on check out. Marvelous customer service. Beautiful resort with gardens and large pond with wooden walkways over the pond. Tried their So Spa and received a very professional, skillful treatment.

The lounge replaces the French restaurant that was in that location previously.

Hotel: Ibis Styles Siem Reap (Cambodia)
Status: Platinum
VIP treatment: Was is town walking around and dropped into the Lobby exactly one week before check in. Requested hotel business card with email address from Front Desk, and mentioned that I would email the hotel one day prior to check in to enquire about the possibility of early check in the next day, expecting an email response on the morning of check in subject to their occupancy level. Confirmed that my reservation was in their system. Was extremely surprised to receive an email three hours later guaranteeing early check in at 9 am seven days in advance. Attractive fruit platter waiting in room. Received one drink voucher for use in the restaurant, their only F&B outlet. Was handed the normal menu and not told of any particular restrictions but unfortunately forgot to ask. Booked cheapest Standard Room and seemed to be upgraded to Superior Room . . . same size and contents, I think, but higher (third of four floors) and same floor as pool.

Reaction: Accor's third hotel in Siem Reap after Sofitel and Raffles. Opened three months ago so everything is new. Delightful, enthusiastic and efficient FO and restaurant staff. Only 112 rooms so my guess is aiming primarily at FIT guests rather than big tour groups. Location is right across the road from the "Night Market" and two minutes walk from the "Old Market". About three minutes walk from "Pub Street" and the adjoining area of many cafes, bars, clothes and other shops etc. Hotel restaurant open all day with a la carte menu. Breakfast included for all guests. FO has full interface with Accor for automated posting of points (like Sofitel, but unlike Raffles). Very friendly and approachable young French GM. Really enjoyed this first Stay. Provided everything that is promised by the Ibis Styles brand. Am very happy with its relatively small number of rooms. Really enthusiastic staff.

What about soundproofing of rooms ? As this area can be very noisy all day and a significant part of night.

I forgot about this issue and actually raised it at check out.

I was given a street view room facing in the direction of "Pub Street". For about 20 hours of the day I don't recall hearing anything. There may have been muffled sounds but I don't remember hearing any motorbikes etc etc.

However, for perhaps a four hour period in the early hours when already awake I did hear what sounded like laughing and drunken singing from somewhere in the near distance. I don't think it would have woken me up but was easy to hear when already awake.

I asked about this noise issue at check out. The Front Desk said that the Street View rooms were the best rooms because of the view. But apparently rooms on the other side of the building with no view except for a wall were quieter. I replied that for a Short Stay I had no problem at all with the room assigned but that for a Long Stay I might request a room at the other side of the hotel. After further thought, it is definitely something I would request in advance as quiet nights are more important to me than a view of the street.

On my Floor . . . the Third Floor the rooms seemed to be on only one side of the corridor from memory. I have had previous experiences in other hotels where the real noise issue for me was not outside the hotel, but doors being closed noisily, and groups of friends or family with several rooms talking noisily in the corridor or visiting each other in the early hours, and repeatedly closing the doors noisily, especially when rooms were on both sides of the corridor. My guess is that the chances of that situation in this hotel would be less due to there being relatively fewer rooms overall, and if all floors have rooms on only one side of the corridor. 112 rooms over 4 Floors means around 30 rooms per floor. The hotel was at low occupancy during my Stay and few guests seemed to be staying on my floor. I cannot comment on the sound proofing of the rooms or the audibility of loud talking people in the room next door.

A longer Stay would be needed to confirm this noise issue, along with experience on the other Floors. On first impression I would be very happy to go back but I may be proven wrong during high season in particular when even a small group of nearby noisy guests could be a problem if the rooms are not well soundproofed.

I forgot about this. Thank you for asking !

You are welcome
I was curious to know as last time I was in SR, the Ibis style was still in construction. Of course, nothing will drive me away from my beloved Sofitel Angkor especially now that it will have a club lounge very soon.

Very nice surprise (first time in 4 years, to be hones &#128515 at a Mercure in Italy ...

1 bottle of Banfi Prosecco as welcome gift (Platinum) ...i’m drinking it now at dinner.

Hotel is Mercure Tirrenia green park, near Livorno, a recent new property in Italy, like a resort (not directly on the beach) but just 50 meters.

Since it’s a “new” hotel, I’ll take also X4 points

another one nice surprise, I have got a cocktail with my welcome drink 😊 Amaretto Disaronno with Orange grey goose vodka + orange and maraschino Cherry ...i suggest it to all 👍

I will spend also another one night next week 👍

Mercure Golf Cap D Agde Hotel

Umm..... what can I say. The "gift" was a used pair of ladies pants on the floor of the bathroom area.

A full review of this dreadful hotel stay will follow.
