- What is your Le Club status?

Gold

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?

Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

N/A

- How are the rooms?

Best Ibis i've ever stayed in (was a Ramada originally i think) and rooms were fine and quite large.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good: Got recognised by receptionist s a gold member and was given a free drinks voucher. I've never received one from an Ibis before so they clearly do things for the status you have. All staff were very good, pleasant and professional.

Bad:Nothing

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?

N/A

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?

Although only booked a few days earlier on full rate, was still very cheap. Yes i would return as i have a work site in between Swansea and Cardiff.

Novotel Lyon Part Dieu

- Status: Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
It's fine.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard, no upgrade given since it seems I forgot to click on the guarantee with credit card button when I reserved, and they cancelled my room because I arrived late. By then there were no upgrades available.

They gave me a drink coupon, but at the bar they said it was only good for beer or soft drinks. No wine! That's a first for me.

- How are the rooms?
Average French Novotel. Perfectly adequate.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:
Right next to the train station.

Bad:
Wine not allowed under free drink coupon.

- Value for € or Vouchers? Would you return?
If I need a hotel next to Part Dieu, I always stay here or the Ibis once when this hotel was sold out.

Name of the hotel: Ibis Euston St Pancras

What is your Le Club status? Gold

Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? It was fine.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? A double room. No upgrade as there's only one type of room (alternative was a twin).

How are the rooms? Basic but clean and completely adequate for a single night stay.

What was good and what was bad?

Good: Great bar and reception area and friendly welcome from reception. Very easy to use the luggage room and tags were given for bags with an emphasis on security. Location's perfect if you need to be on an early train out of Euston, King's Cross or St Pancras and can't afford the Pullman. The continental breakfast selection was pretty good - fruit, cooked meats and cheese and a choice of cereals and breads.

Bad: I'm a Gold but wasn't offered a drink's voucher. There was a mark in the bath - not sure if it was damaged or a stain. There was no shower curtain over the bath (which I failed to realise until I needed the shower), so when I used it the water went everywhere (despite my best efforts). When I reported that to reception on check out, they seemed surprised - surely that should have been picked up by housekeeping. The cooked breakfast was pretty poor - not a lot of choice and I don't think the scrambled eggs had ever been near a chicken.

Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge? N/A

Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return? This was a late booking due to an emergency work thing so the rate wasn't great for what was on offer. If you can get this for under 60 quid, I'd say go for it but I have to say that I wouldn't pay for breakfast - especially as there are a lot of places in Euston nearby that do decent selections for the same price.

- Name of the hotel: Mercure London Paddington

- What is your Le Club status? Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

booked standard double and got standard double, but had checked the website and that was highest room still available, did get free water and enhanced toiletries

- How are the rooms?
Not bad, small but comfortable

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:

first recognition of status in a Mercure on check in, got drinks voucher without having to ask, they took down my comments on lack of status recognition in other Mercures with interest and said they'd look into it

Bad:

I didn't have time to go to the bar before going to the theatre and it was already shut by the time we returned, but apart from that nothing

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
n/a

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
paid £60 on the Happy Monday's rate, would return if I could get at same price, prefer the Novotel London Paddington generally as they have a pool

Ibis Lyon Part Dieu

- Status: Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
This is an Ibis!

- How are the rooms?
Was fine. I think they must have updated the rooms recently. Flat panel TV in the wall.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:
For the first time at an Ibis I was offered a drink coupon! Good for beer or soft drinks only though.
Canal+ in the rooms, so I could watch the Champions League last night. ^
Good staff.
Courtepaille as the hotel restaurant.

Bad:
Nothing.

- Value for € or Vouchers? Would you return?
It was expensive for an Ibis, but the location is key.

- Name of the hotel: Sofitel Macau at Pointe 16

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Very happy with the stay. The service, especially in the Executive Club was superb.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked the cheapest standard room and was upgraded to the Executive floor.

- How are the rooms? The rooms are very spacious, very well furnished and have a good level of tech. Bose sound system, TV above the bath, remote controlled blinds in the bedroom and bathroom.

- What was good and what was bad?
Good
Frequent complimentary shuttle bus to the ferry port. ( Basic standard bus provided by the casino where the hotel is located)
Executive lounge including free bar each evening with canapé's
Complimentary bottle of wines and chocolates in the room
Late check out
Complimentary guide book for Macau provided
Very helpful staff in the lounge

Bad:
Nothing

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
Yes. Superb lounge.

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
Very good value. I would return to the hotel, it was very nice and well managed, but I doubt I will go back to Macau. I am currently at the intercontinental grand Stanford in Hong Kong and the Sofitel wins my vote.

Ibis Vientiane Nam Phu

Gold

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally)
Very happy

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard twins. Ibis Vientiane didn't have higher category but the FOM said that I was placed on the corner room which is little bit bigger than other rooms. ^

The rooms are ibis like; modern and clean.

- Got early check-in at 10 am
- Friendly staffs
- rooms are new and modern
- location

Bad:
- No drinks voucher as Gold
- Some of the staffs didn't know the Advantage Plus discounts scheme

Really good value. Yes

- What is your Le Club status?
Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked superior room and got upgraded to executive room

- How are the rooms?

Really good, for once sofa bed had already been madeup

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:
Got drinks voucher with the room key, was able to get a late checkout but only for an hour after regular checkout, however as I only asked a few hours before checkout if it were possible it was good enough! Pool was great too!

Bad:
Had to ask if they had anything for my 7 year old, considering how Novotel pride themselves on being a family brand and giving a special welcome to kids they don't seem to do it very often

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
n/a

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
I booked this through the Happy Mondays rate, would happily return

Mercure King George Square Brisbane

Please copy and paste the following to format your reply:

- Name of the hotel: Mercure King George Square Brisbane

- What is your Le Club status? Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Absolutely

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked Superior 1 queen bed received Business Floor Queen. Was offerred to move across to the Pullman for $20 which I was tempted to do but we were literally only sleeping there do decided not to do it.

- How are the rooms? Room was ok - fairly standard for a Mercure

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:
Service was the absolute BEST!
It's attached to the Pullman, so we received all the Pullman benefits - lounge, drinks, welcome bottle of wine, chocolate, mineral water.
Great location

Bad:
We weren't around to use the Executive Lounge

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?

YES!! Because the Pullman has an Executive Lounge, we were told we also had access to the lounge. Unfortunately we had a 30th to go to so weren't at the hotel when the lounge was open so missed out - but means I'd do it again next time. Have used the lounge on previous visits and it is pretty good.

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return? Good value and I'd stay again and hope for a $20 upgrade to the Pullman.

- Name of the hotel: Grand Ankasa Medan (will soon be Grand Mercure Ankasa)

- What is your Le Club status? Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Deluxe room and got upgraded to Junior Suite

- How are the rooms?
Quite large. Somewhat dated (but yet sold off as "the renovated rooms"). No international plugs.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:
Got drinks voucher a day later, got fruit basked later in the afternoon. Checked in at 9am - no issues. Comfy bed.

Bad:
They make a deal of giving you a "renovated" room. Which was renovated 3 years ago. Bathrooms certainly were not renovated. They advertise and sell Executive rooms, but they dont use the Executive Lounge.

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
They have a lounge but dont use it.

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
At USD45 per night yes. But I hope they do some proper upgrading prior to calling it a Grand Mercure.

- Name of the hotel: Ibis North Point, Hong Kong

- What is your Le Club status? Silver

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Sort of happy as I was there to visit the city, not lounge in the hotel. So it provided the basics I needed (a bed) but not much more than that.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Standard Room with 1 Double Bed City View and received exactly that.

- How are the rooms? Room was ok - very small (8 sqm) but I understand this is the norm in HKG.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:
The location in North Point is good for a traveler visiting the city like myself.

Bad:
- No recognition of Le Club benefit: no welcome drinks, no late check-out provided when I requested it. The Priority front desk was never manned in the 10 days I spent there.
- The breakfast buffet is of very low quality, much more than any other Ibis I have been to.
- Poor WiFi quality with necessity to log in every 12 hours.
- Elevator slow, very small for such a big hotel (30 floors). I waited very often more than 10 minutes for a lift, to a point that if I was going down I would take the stairs.
- Service at front desk was very poor, lack of basic politeness (I do not think I have been told Hello once).

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
N/A

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
I know hotel prices in HKG are high, and 550 HK Dollar a night for this Ibis is probably OK value. Yet I would not return or recommend it unless all you need is a place to sleep and nothing more than that.

- Name of the hotel:
Novotel Liverpool Centre

- What is your Le Club status? Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Superior Room and got Superior Room

- How are the rooms?
Not too bad, standard Novotel rooms, bed was comfortable

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:
Got free drinks voucher without having to ask
Pool was really good

Bad:
No welcome for my 7 year old, had to ask although she did get a selection of gifts once they'd worked out what she was asking (appears standard as when we were waiting a family had come from the pool and when getting their key back they asked if the kids had been given gifts on checkout, turned out they hadn't)

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
N/A

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
Booked on Happy Mondays rate for £40, can't complain Would return if price was right

- Name of the hotel: Ibis Liverpool Centre Albert Dock

- What is your Le Club status? Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Stayed here twice in 3 days, the second stay was better than the first

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked family room received same

- How are the rooms?
Room was pretty good, found the desk bed a little bit odd but my 7 year old liked it enough

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:
On the second stay was offered a welcome drink straight away on check-in, got late checkout, did get a welcome drink on the first stay but had to ask

Bad:
On checkout after the first stay i asked about bags storage and was told that it would cost £2 a bag and that it was standard now in all Ibis Hotels in the UK, asked Accor on facebook who said it was hotel dependent and certainly not standard, fortunately the YHA we stayed in inbetween the first and second stays were more than happy to store the bags for free

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
n/a

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
Was alright, would possibly stay here again if the price was right

Sofitel Hyland Shanghai

- Name of the hotel: Sofitel Hyland Shanghai

- What is your Le Club status? Gold at the time

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Club Floor room and upgraded to Junior Suite

- How are the rooms?
Renovated rooms are fine but the standard rooms on lower floors are terrible but the prices reflect that. Rooms are being upgraded.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good: Club lounge canapés were plentiful, evening cocktails good, friendly staff in main restaurant with French chef offering to cook me some spinach and on another day they burned my waffles but really tried to please by spending a lot of time making new mixture despite end of breakfast time.

Bad: No pool, general snacks in lounge especially pastries are of low quality for Sofitel.

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge? Already paid for club floor but they did say they would give club floor access to platinum members. Mixed review of club floor. Better to have breakfast downstairs.

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
Yes - a massive improvement on my first visit 4 years ago when I experienced a very rude receptionist and a standard room that not even a mercure would have been proud of. Once all the rooms are renovated it will be better. Stay in a renovated room, get club access and it'll be fine. The best thing is the location with the bund a ten minute walk.
