Ibis Semarang Simpang Lima

What is your Le Club status?
Gold

Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Not Really

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard king non-smoking and get the same. There is only one room type available.

How are the rooms?
The room is clean and typical with other Ibis hotel.

What was good and what was bad?

GOOD
+Efficient Service
+Great Location in Simpang Lima
+Very cheap ! I booked under the supersale so it was only for 15 USD/night.

BAD

- No welcome gift
- No recognition at all (greetings, etc)

Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
It is very cheap; if there is no supersale promotion it would be only 25-30 USD/night. Perhaps I only return to Ibis if I have to go to Semarang incidentally which I could still have inexpensive rate; otherwise Crowne Plaza and HIX Semarang are still my favorites in the city

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Luxury room upgraded to Junior suite (after asking and insisting...)

- How are the rooms?
Junior suite is a two room not very large (38sq/m) with 2 bathrooms, one with bath the other with italian shower

- What was good and what was bad?

Good: room service, breakfast

Bad: problem with one window that do not shut and isolate from street noises.
(but they repair it and offer the day after a big bottle of spumante white wine with some desserts.)

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
No lounge in this hotel

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?

Yes I will return as it is a very central hotel, near public transports and very sympathic personnel.
I paid €800 for 4 nights for two people, breakfast included (€50/day)

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Big. Mine had a kitchenette.

- What was good and what was bad?
Good: Seems pretty well maintained. Located right outside the Metro
Bad: 15mins by metro to the main shopping area. So bear that in mind if you are visiting to shop. (I wasn't)

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
Yes. Lounge is very beautifully decorated. The dinner spread was extensive. Only saw beer in the self service area. So unsure if it's table service or no other alcohol offered.

Fruit & Cake platter sent to my room.

Yes.

Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit

Name of the hotel: Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit

- What is your Le Club status? Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes, just a few minor issues, below.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked luxury room, upgraded to luxury room club millesime. Room is only slightly larger than their standard room but has upgraded amenities/toiletries and of course, lounge access.

- How are the rooms? Excellent, still in great condition. The shower sometimes took several minutes to get warm. I also saw a cockroach at breakfast, first time in 20+ nights at hotel.

- What was good and what was bad? Great service (better than usual, perhaps due to reduced demand), excellent buffet breakfast, excellent location, etc.

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge? Yes, 2 hours of unlimited drinks (wine/beer/coctails) 5-7pm although they weren't always quick to provide refills. Only had breakfast in lounge once and prefer the main restaurant since it has much more variety.

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return? Yes, excellent value overall.

I stayed there last year, and was only given 2 free drinks as a Plat but no breakfast. How did you get your breakfast? Or your room rate includes breakfast? (I was told breakfast was chargeable - even for Plats.)

Oh yes. I booked a promotional rate that included Breakfast for free. Must've slipped my mind as I almost always book hotels without breakfast. It should read drink voucher. Was given 1 only though.

Edited my post.

^ Thanks for your data point!
It is a nice hotel located in Old Town Narita, and I actually liked it cos there are nice food options near the hotel. Prices for the nearby restaurants are decent, and the quality are not that far off compared to Tokyo itself.

Just that the hotel is still quite far away from the airport itself and the complimentary shuttle service is really infrequent (perhaps due to the distance too & they only use 1 bus).
